I’m 77. My mother, who paid a great deal of attention to how she presented herself to the world, gave me great advice. She said: “Fashion will always go out of style, but style will never go out of fashion”. Develop “your” style that reflects how you want to present yourself to those around you. Be you, all the others are taken.

I'm an older guy, (67) and I agree with much of what he says. Tailored, well fitting clothing always looks better than baggy, loose pants and shirts. However, I hate this trend nowadays of guys wearing "overly fitted" suits. When you see newscasters, tv hosts, sports commentators wearing suits that look like they're 2 sizes too small and form-fitting dress pants that are 2 inches too short, it looks ridiculous in my opinion.

Can't go wrong with green wellington boots, shorts and a string timeless.

My husband is turning 40 this month. I started watching your videos a while ago and this guy went from hoodies, baggy jeans and converse high tops to polo shirts, nice slacks and loafers. I am thankful that he was open to upgrading his style and trusted me with doing the shopping for him. Some of the younger guys in our church have made comments on how nice he dresses and his good taste for style. This is all thanks to your videos! . 😀

Love the way you talk, you're actually making fun of the way a lot of guys our age dress, but your tone of voice and careful choice of words make it a welcome reprimand. Everybody needs a little direction and criticism now and then and you seem to be the go to guy for this topic. I like your style, keep up the great work!!

I am in my very very early 50’s. I never cared how I look. And even if I did, I didn’t know how to dress myself because no one taught me. I used to wear oversized shirts, baggy pants, etc. You get the picture. Four years ago, I started watching Youtube videos on how to dress properly and to take good care of one’s body. I got rid of my old clothes and invested a few thousand pesos on new clothing. I now feel much more confident and look way much better. Thank you very much!!!

You mentioned trends. When I worked at Nordstrom selling suits I often attempted to convince my customers that style would be better than fashion. If you are spending $500 + for a suit go with style and save yourself some money in the long run. Oh yeah, have it tailored, it comes with the price of the suit.

Great points, I'm 52yrs old and fairly fit and when shopping for jeans, khakis and shirts I ALWAYS look for the slim fit bcuz I've found that's always a NEATER look and makes u look leaner

As I got older my feet expanded from a D to EEE in width. Wearing New Balance sneakers isn't a fashion choice (no matter what Millennials tell you). It's a comfort choice. Most sneakers aren't available in wide sizes and are really uncomfortable. NB has what I need.

Not long ago I wore my best pullover for a visit to a new dentist office. The staff commented on it. In fact, the receptionist said that her dad had worn that same pullover in the 1990s. Which is probably when I got it. I still wear it.

I’m too old to wear clothes that look two sizes too small and have my junk exposed. Everything is “slim fit”. I go into a high end men’s clothing store and all the staff are wearing suits that are so tight they’d rip if you did a squat. They look ridiculous. I’m a professional, not a gigolo.

67 here, agree with all you said and I try to go the route you suggest with one exception. I live in a coastal environment where marinas abound ( I also have a boat). My main shoe choice is a classic boat shoe, Sperry, in a mono-color dark brown upper and white sole. You can wear then in many situations even dress them up if they're in good shape. I'll be watching more of your videos...thanks!

Pleated pants give off a very classic and classy look...I have both pleats and flat front pants in my wardrobe and love them both...it all depends on what shirt or sweater one is wearing that day...simply pair them accordingly...in short: don't toss your pleats...

It's amazing how much difference the shoulder length makes in the shirts

Im in my 60's and have always stayed in shape. I was an athlete and I never stopped going to the gym. The clothes I wear a pretty different than what you show in this video. I agree that the clothes you show in this video look better on you than the picures from the 90's. That works for you. Clothing really comes down to preference. I prefer Western style clothing. Wranglers with a button down shirt, Dan Post boots and a Stetson. I agree with a snug fit on shirts but slim fit pants are not for me. Tennis shoes I wear to the gym and thats the only time I wear them. I never wear loafers and dress shoes are a thing of the past for me. When I wear a suit I wear dress boots. Everyone has their own style. You have to wear what you like and be yourself. Interesting video.

This always boils down to body shape. I stand by timeless fashion. Whether on person or in home decor, you must ask yourself if you can stand behind yesterdays photos w/o embarrassment! It’s quite personal

As an even older man in his late 50's with a waistline which is more round than I'd like and a very thick neck, I found buying dress shirts that actually button up resulted in my having way too much baggy fabric. Fixed this by buying larger neck size with slim cut fitting. Works a treat.

Always had a problem with shirts. I was a bodybuilder. I have a 19.5" neck, 52" chest, and a 38" waist (today). It used to be much smaller with the same neck and chest. It helped get tailored shirts.

Hi John. I've just come across your channel. I'm in the UK and I have never come across a channel like this. It's excellent. I'm off shopping tomorrow.
