Fall Fashion Trends Out Of Style & What To Wear Instead
Fashion trends are fun but there are some new season trends that are tricky to wear when you’re over 50 and today I’m sharing a few trends to take off your wish list. These videos are often controversial and so the trends I’m featuring today are my personal opinion only. I’ll share my reasoning for why each trend is a no-go AND some ways to wear the trend if you really love them. It’s all about how you style them!!!! The key for me is looking the best version of myself. I’m 57 and I just want to look as good as I can for my age and some trends make it extra hard to do that. And if you like making fashion easy then I think you’ll enjoy today’s episode.
Thanks so much for watching and I'll see you real soon.

I love cardigans and I don’t care if I look like a grandma, I embrace that because they are comfy, cozy, and easy to throw on or take off when you get too warm ❤👵🏻

It seems like if over 50 are comfortable with themselves they can honestly pull off most styles (unless they are too skimpy, show too much saggy skin) I mix sweaters with skirts, often with chunky punk boots and I am 65. I wear bright lipstick and fun big leather earrings. To me its a creative fun endeavor! But I am not conservative in my style.

I'm turning 70 this year and im definitely wearing somewhat edgy clothing. As a rectangle shape, cropped jackets give me a waist...but it's a No for the ultra cropped.
And i wear leopard prints too.

I agree that the difference between looking good versus looking grumpy in a cardigan is how you style it, but that does apply to most clothes. ❤️

I love listening to you, but I really wish you would show older models in your videos, you are talking about over 50 fashion but using images of 20 year olds in top fashion items, we don’t all look like you (unfortunately) some of us look our age or close to it and carry a little more weight than we’d like so could you please add in some realistic 50+ images of fashionable ladies 🙏😁

When it's minus 20 celsius those cardigans work overtime under my winter coat. Not giving them up anytime soon. I own a leopard print cardigan and a leopard print tunic that are staying in my wardrobe as well (am way north of 50). We should all wear what we like. One thing i found out about being over 50 is that i have the confidence and experience to do and wear exactly what pleases me without worrying about the optics or what anyone thinks. Thanks Leonie for keeping us up to date.

I’m going on 80, and it’s not possible to look much older than that! So I don’t worry about that part. But I’d rather look old and frumpy like the Grandma that I am, then wear some of those ridiculous cardigan suggestions, good grief! I have more fashion sense than that!

No low-rise pants, ever! I never liked them, they fall right off because I lack hip curves. My first style rule: no falling-down clothes🙂

The cardigan tied in front with nothing under it? Seriously! Yeah, sure…….😂😂😂My family would have me committed……….Btw…..At 61 I’ll be wearing as much animal print as possible. I have 2 Co-Ords and love! I’m obsessed. I do wear cropped. Proud of my 26” waist. Especially now that I’m in my 60s.

Thanks for the tip about un-frumping plaids with unexpected shoes! I have two midi-length kilted skirts in Isle of Skye and Nova Scotia Ancient tartans, and I’ve been struggling with what shoes to wear with them. I’m plump and 65 and insist on wearing only comfortable shoes, so now I’m thinking more out-there shoes like thick-soled brogues in a fun two-tone, maybe? 🤔 Maybe a pair of yellow Adidas?

You give good advice. If you also categorized by body type it might be helpful. Im a rectangle and LOVE the boxy, shorter (not super short) sweaters and puffers, as they give the impression that I have a waist. This works better if you’re a thinner rectangle without a lot of tummy issues to camouflage, but even then, there are tricks. I like dressing edgier and with more flair as I age. Every day is a day worth celebrating, and looking frumpy is definitely NOT on my daily agenda!

Cropped jackets are not practical in a cold climate, like our Canadian fall and winter seasons. I prefer to be warm.

Cardigans that are fitted are ok and leopard print in a handbag or any accessories looks good. No low rise and puffers can make you look much larger I prefer a wool coat. Crop doesn’t work if you have a tummy. I never do puffed anything Great video 🦋

I agree about the cardigans! The older I’ve gotten I’ve noticed that I usually look dowdy in a cardigan. But if it’s a cropped style with a camisole underneath, I feel like it looks more current.

Thank you for the advice, I appreciate your opinion. Here is mine-Fashion looks good when women wear it with confidence. It doesn’t matter if it’s classic or trendy. Find your look and live content in it. Wear what gives you the ‘I feel sexy‘ look; stand up tall, hold your head up, and be yourself. It you put on a garment that doesn’t hang right for your body type, take it off and find one that does. We’ve lived 50 years; show younger women they too; can be beautiful and their own original gorgeous self.

I purchased a white bubble hem skirt and wore it one day as a bubble hem top and another day as a bubble hem skirt and received tons of compliments wearing it both ways. I’m 61 by the way. 😊

I feed so granny-ish when I wear a long cardigan. I prefer a cropped one.
