I have been using my 500i for the last couple of days cutting oak here in Northern Ireland, i gotta say the 500i is class. Worth every penny.

I am supplied both 462s and 500is to use at work, while they are both great saws I am quite impartial to the older husqvarna 372 and the newer 390xp. They just have a grumble about them rather than a scream and a whole lot of torque, something the newer saws seem to lack in favour of rpm.

That 462 maybe needed the M tropics reset. They are usually great running saws and about a pound lighter then the 500. The longer bar maybe made it feel heavier. The 500 is a saw that is at a different level. It is going to be my next saw. My dealer can seem to get enough of them.

Great video, love the demo’s on the saws, big time Husky fan, Northern Michigan logging, ,
That 500i was killing it!! Would have no problem using it, , my first saw was a
Husqvarna 61, , 40 years later still have that saw, many, many trees later, still cuts like a champ, ,

I love our 500i, I’ve run it with both a 25” bar and a 36” bar and it just cuts great, it is super bar heavy when you use anything longer than a 20” bar but when you’re cutting up an already felled tree that’s not a bad thing, it does make it slightly harder to get a level cut when felling a tree or cutting off a stump but it’s still lighter than the 461 and cuts better. With the relatively small price difference I’d never buy a 461 instead.

I love my Husqvarna 550 XP which I run with a 16, 18 and 20-in bar for most of my needs. However, for the bigger trees I cut I will be purchasing a 572 XP with a 32 or 36-in bar.

Good vid, my vote is for the 572xp all day long and then the 462 second. The cut times (if important to some) are negligible and the cost of the 572xp is definitely in favor of most. The 572xp also has better bottom end grunt when needed. Bigger bearings as well. Another perk to the 572xp is it uses much less fuel than the 500i. All 3 a great saws and produce good power and are effective but IMHO the 572xp is the better buy/saw for the money. 🙂 Merry Christmas everyone!! Stay safe and and keep smiling!! FJBLGB!!!

My 572xp will almost always start 3-4 pulls.. prime, pull a time or two until it wants to fire, then turn choke off and starts next pull. I like it. Would love to run a 500i sometime.

I have a 462 with a light 25 inch bar and the balance is perfect. I think maybe super low rakers on your test? I don't have a chain stalling issue with mine at all. If I didn't have the 462 I would sure be considering the 500.

I had the 500i and it's my favorite saw by far! After ur initial start ur supposed to let in run for 1 to 1 and a half minutes to calibrate to ur elevation. I ran a 28 inch stihl light bar and it was fast I can only imagine a 25 inch bar let alone a 20 inch bar. I think they need to make all stihl saws just like the 500i!

The New 661 with a Carburetor you can set with a Screwdriver is Awesome Especially in Big Timber with a 25’ Stihl light Bar.

Put a Tsumura light bar on your 572 or adapt a Stihl Es Light bar onto your 572. You will end up with a better balanced saw. The .6 of a pound weight difference with the 500i is noticeable but comes with a cost in terms of both price and durability. Do a muffler mod or have someone that knows what they are doing do one for you. For an even bigger smile on your face and more power and better starting have your 572 professionaly ported (do your research and choose a porter wisely). The 572 is fuel efficient and has better air filtration than the Stihls. And you already own and like your 572xp. This comes from someone that has run all 3 of these saws logging every day and I own more Stihls than other brands. A properly maintained pro saw of any brand should last the average homeowner/firewood cutter many many years if not their lifetime. Choose the one that feels the best to you and that you enjoy running.

My brother got a 462c for Christmas and that thing is so badass I’m in love.
But I did try to get a 500i with no luck. Those saws are elusive. Stihl dealer said all the 500i’ are on back order.

Did anybody see the chain drop on the bottom of the bar when he idled down the Husky saw; thought I seeing things.
Kudos to a fellow Carolinian!

I’m only 130lbs and the 572 is a hard old days work for me to throw around …. Might have to go 500i based on what you say about the weight, I’m glad you mention that sthils can be hard to start too, my farmboss is a bugger to start cold .

500i throttle response though 👌
Only those who own or have used will understand this experience

thank you sir. we own all of these and the husqvarna is my go to other than my old McCullough. But the 500 I is growing on me due to ease of start and rapid throttle response.

Thanks, I would think fuel injected meant no need for a bubble to press 8 times and that it would start on the first pull. Thought it would be similar to a fuel injected car, no need to touch the gas peddle for starting.

All good saws, should check out the echo 7310 aswell. Comparable saw with some very nice features and a more attractive price tag.
