STIHL MS500i - World’s 1st Fuel Injected Chainsaw

The Stihl MS500i showed up at my door . I unbox it to notice a half wrap handle bar. With some quick logger magic I dress it up in a full wrap handle bar and 32” bar full house chain . And put it to work in big wood

Chainsaws and heavy machinery, older and younger men working . Old and new saws, old and new trucks. And a big spectrum of skill levels, this video has it all.

My first job was block packer in a small mill here in the Kootenays, I was 13 and they taught me how to run a chain saw with an 070 Stihl, and a 090 Stihl. I had to hook my toes into the handle and handle bars, hold the pull cord and stand up to start those saws, but I did start them. lol. From day one I was in love with chainsaws, and now 40 years later I still love chainsaws, I play with them, and work with them, build and repair saws, but for the life of me, I have never been very good at tuning a carb!!! It always amazes me how quickly you can hear and fix a poorly adjusted carb. God bless.

I bet the ECU (computer) in the 500I has a "break in" tune for the first hour or whatever and then it changes the timing and fuel to full power after that.... The rings seat almost instantly. Cool to see a thumbs up for Stihl!

Man she cutts. I still live the sound of that hot rodd 125. You have. Reminds me of sitting at a traffic light and a old man rolling up in his big block hot rodd. And you can feel the cams lobeing in your chest.

People just don’t realize how much work goes into cutting up a big old tree like that..my good buddy cuts down trees for a living and he works hard but he loves it!

Wow this was a very dangerous and technical tree drop, and this team makes it look easy, hats off to you Billy, what a impressive crew. it made me chuckle to watch you all giggling like 5 years olds on Christmas morning over the new and vintage saws alike.

Got 3 of these saws and been using for a year and a half now. No serious problems just need to watch out for the cracking in the fuel tank and plastic is fairly weak .but its and absolute beast enjoy.

Oh. My. Goodness. You pulled out that knife... and the text on screen said, "I'm going to be nice to people today." I laughed so hard.

The 500i is by far the best saw that Stihl has released in my opinion. At first, I didn't like it, but after a week of using it every day in the brush I've come to love it. Mine had a break in period of at least 10 hour run time then it completely opened up. From what ive read other people said the same thing. Out of the box til now it's a completely different saw. Give it a chance you will enjoy it. The thing I like the most about it is the consistency it gives you. The power is always there which is where fuel injected shines in my opinion. Surprisingly I haven't felt like I've needed more power and I've put it in some very big wood.

Yep. Every time I watch one of your videos I think ahhhh that's not so big. A big tree is a big tree, then I get out into the woods and look at trees for firewood and say ahhhh that's not so bad. Then I walk up to a 20" tree I'm going to fall and I realize that yeah, it's dangerous and for anyone to make it in the timber game as long as you have, it is a pretty amazing track record. I've learned a lot watching your videos. Thanks for making your channel. You keep makin videos and I'll keep learning. Thanks Billy Ray!

When BBR cuts a round, you could measure that thing with a micrometer from side to side. That is a testament to his sawmanship but also his skill in hand filing.

That Stihl saw was fantastic. The way you plunged it, nose first, into that trunk was amazing. But, that Mcculloch was just loafing while it was plowing through that log. Like a hot knife through butter. 😳👍😁

I smiled watching you smile while you were running that 500i. It really powered through that heavy pine.
