You can also divide the board in threes by marking the 2 and 4 inch lines

You need a European tape measure. (With cm and inches) Then, when your math gets too tough, you can just use metric 😂

I always start on the one and go to 7, 9, 11, or the such like. The end of a tape measure is to much of a variable for a perfectly accurate center.
