Today, we’re talking about 7 common marketing mistakes to avoid in voice over, why they’re common and not obvious, and why you want to avoid them.

In the first few years of your voice over career it’s hard enough to learn what to do right. Sometimes learning what not to do can be a bigger help.

One of the most common marketing questions I get from voice actors is, “How do I differentiate myself? How do I set myself apart? How do I make myself different?”

We’re going to start by flipping that question around and asking, “How do you not look like everyone else?”

Once again, you have provided outstanding information. Out of the seven, I felt most convicted by (and changed with haste) my social media profile picture. For one, they were not consistent. And two, the majority had me featuring a cheesy smile with, yes you guessed it, my microphone and headphones. Error corrected.

When we were running a small P2P site, we discouraged voice talent/members to refrain from using any photo or logo as well as their last name (unless the customer asked, or they were booked of course); Only their first names, or even a pseudonym and maybe their last initial if there were others with the same first name. We want the listeners to hear their demos only...

I am guilty of doing that to projects i love "Hey looovee this project I see you don't have any voice overs if you ever decide to utilize voices I'd love the opportunity" and every time i get an immediate response but maybe because it's indie developers lol
