Crows actually lead pretty good lives comparatively to a lot of other animals. They’re very social, care about one another, and always completely dominate the local graveyard, using the old trees there as a perfect nesting ground and shelter from predators. Honestly, top tier animal existence.

1) able to fly
2) strong family and community
3) able to jump any predators who attack.
4) cooperative and non violent relationship with mate that seems based on mutual respect.
5) high level of intelligence and long term facial recognition.

This doesnt sound bad at all.

I took in an injured full grown crow once. He didn't seem that smart, but he was smart enough not to refuse my help. He lived in my garage for about three weeks while I fed him, gave him water, and cleaned his mess. Then I put him in my car and drove him back to the park where I found him. He sat quietly in the back seat of my car, not making a bit of noise, just taking in the ride like an Uber passenger. When I let him go, he flew away, then immediately came back and flew right by my head, almost hitting me, then he was gone for good.

You fail to show me why sucks to live as a crow, but, you succeed to impress me how good is it to live as a crow

Why it rocks to be a crow:

1) Crow buddies got your back.
2) Smart enough to remember which humans are friends or foes.
3) You can assert independence as you please.
4) Your neighbors help you raise your kids.

I mean, life as a crow seemed the nicest. Not many animals will remember their peers in the wild, as it seems. Crows are astonishing animals

My best friend has made friends with her works local murder. One night someone tried to mug her on the way to her car and when she screamed, the local murder heard and about 20 crows came out of the dark and started dive bombing the wouldbe mugger. She is now jokingly called a witch by some of her coworkers who ran to see why she screamed and stumbled upon the swarm of crows chasing the guy.

It's good to be in with the crows.

My dad kicked aside a crow baby that had fallen in our driveway. The crows decided to go after me instead of him. This was 5 years ago. They constantly harass me, caw outside my window at 7am daily and poop on my car.

I had a very special relationship with a pair of northwestern crows. Started as a social experiment. Ended up a decade long friendship. So close I could call for them and they'd come like a dog to a whistle. They'd introduce their fledglings to me- who still trust me. Blackwing- the female was the one who especially loved me. Gave my gifts. I never touched her despite how'd she likely let me. Her mate Spirit was much much more.... nervous. He kept as scout. He was also the chef of the family. Always prepped the food I gave them. Dipping it in water, scrapped it against tree bark or Sap or sometimes rocks - THEN eats it. He taught his children this too. To this day generations later they do the same thing.

Sadly, eventually Blackwing just... disappeared. I assume she died of old age or something. After all they were already adults when I met them and knew them for almost a decade long. Spirit still came every day. This surprised me because he was always the one more shy and timid. I knew he was there because of his mate not for himself. ... but after she was gone... it was bittersweet seeing him. A month or so later he too disappeared.

Their offspring come around every so often, doing the things their parents taught them. Wigglebutt(who I later realized likely had parasites then recovered) Umbra, & Nocturne are fledglings who still keep around. Others either died or dispersed at some point.

I deeply miss Blackwing and Spirit. I will always cherish her gifts to me like treasures. I feel so honored and lucky to have that friendship. Even still I respected they were wild. That's why I never touched or pat Blackwing even though she'd Perch right next to me with the sweetest trill caws.

You have missed one point regarding crows death: When one crow dies, the crows near to that crow moans, and cries together like any other (You will witness it happening when bunch of crows sitting on those pole wires). Its almost like as if they crying for their fallen comrade and attending funeral service right then and there.

When I was six, a crow slammed into one of our windows not knowing there was glass in the way. It couldn’t fly. I found it and with my parents help we nurse it back to health. He became my buddy but a week later I was at school and my parents let him go. I like to think that’s the reason the crows don’t bother our farm. Because I know they tell other crows about nice people. I also once saved a crow that was drowning in our horses water trough.

This is why crows are one of my favorite animals. They're real survivors, and they use their intelligence to outsmart their surrounding. But they are also kind, and thankful.
As a child I was the only one at school who didn't bother the local murder, and once in a while gave them food. Now, years later, when I walk in this part of town, I see them watch me, and sometimes they approach, rub against my shoes, and even land on my shoulders.
I am one of them now.

I once found a crow laying stunned in the middle of a street while I was walking home. I was able to scoop it up and place it under a bush in the shade. Poor thing was panting, mostly gone. Enough of its mind was still there to show gratitude, or at least releaf for not being eaten.
I gave it some water, had a sit with it, and moved on. Found it dead the next day were I left it. I gave it a bit of my time, but it left me with a memory I wont forget.
People spend their whole lives looking for inteligent life but overlook the ones we share dirt with.
