I love that you analyzed his workout in the context of what his goals were, not in a general way. I feel like a lot of influencers will criticize a routine because "cycling is useless for fat loss!!!" or whatever, and not consider the person was trying to build cardiovascular endurance.

There are so many of these types of videos showing how actors work out to prepare for roles. This would make a great series as well!

Independent of Efrons workout this movie was fucking incredible. It brought me to literal tears and was incredible. I didn't expect this movie to have such an impact on me

Great insights as usual! I would add for anyone who sees the movie and thinks that they can achieve Efron's physique, please note that there's a high likelihood of him getting some extra help from some special "juices".

I like that you keep reiterating that he's an actor and his stunts are choreographed.
Just like all these 'shredded' Hollywood stars he's certainly had some 'juicy' vitamins along with hypertrophy training and eating in a surplus.
Thanks for another great video girl! ❤

I loved this! Can you make this a series? ;)

Yessss, I would LOVE for you to react to each and every single Hollywood workout video out there, because the ones I've seen so far are laughable and you'd totally make them even more hilarious (not to mention you'd share a lot of actual exercise science...those trainers sometimes seem more clueless than the average gym bro, and I wish I was kidding). Excitedly waiting for any of your videos, though, as always! Hope you're having a great day! ❤❤

I love this video! I learned stuff AND got to pat myself on the back a couple times when I was like "but ___!" and then you confirmed my thought! Thank you for continuing to share your expertise.

Always love hearing person trainers who know what they're talking about discuss how to work out well for your goals 😅 Also I know very little about Jason Kelce, but he seems very cool, so I love your sweatshirt haha! 😁

Oooh I just loved that movie!
I always wonder about those workouts that they say they followed, though - you make a very good point about the choreography, and it makes a lot of sense ❤

This was exactly the kind of video I wanted to watch this morning! Thank you, Justina!

A "dirty bulk" to me is PEDs. In my opinion, there is no way a naturally thin guy like him can put that mass on that quickly without some help despite an intense workout. I feel like Chris Hemsworth did the same. I love your honest and knowledgeable reviews.

I think it's also important to consider the performance enhancing drugs that may also have been taken to get in that shape. He's been open about using unhealthy ways to get in shape for a role's in the past. I think it's often overlooked what many celebrities actually do to transform their bodies for roles. Its often anything but healthy and yet they become idolised for their body which are unattainable for most normal people.

This was wild, it was like a @renaissanceperiodization vid but without all of Dr. Mike’s fauxqueerness 😂

👏🏾👍🏾Another great and informative video! By the way, is it me, or did that NASM deadlift model look more as though he was squatting?

I’ve watched Renaissance Periodization/Dr. Mike’s reviews of celebrity trainers, and it seems 99% of them aren’t very good. He’s particularly sarcastic about Men’s Health lol.

I appreciated that you focused on the workout routine and not PEDs.

Actors using PEDs does set unrealistic standards for EVERYONE not just men. (I would be very surprised if all the women in marvel films are getting that muscle definition and bulking up that quickly for a role without PEDs).

However as far as I know Zac Efron hasn’t spoken about using PEDs for this role. Maybe he did maybe he didn’t. But it was more educational to look at the training plan. I see a lot of training plans for action roles that just seem delulu.
And would probably not lead to particularly good results if followed by the average person.

Also appreciated your emphasis on training to act like an athlete vs. training to be an athlete. Doing choreographed moves is a different skill set to doing sports. (Even if said sport involves choreography ie gymnastics, figure ice skating, ballet etc…)

For me it’d feel icky if you’re focusing on specific celebrity to discuss PEDs. I find that conversation more informative in the context of a more general example about how pop culture impacts our aesthetic standards and how action stars from previous decades probably wouldn’t met the visual standard today. Like that is a valuable conversation. But unless a celebrity has specifically spoken about using PEDs I think centring the conversation around one public figure could easily become a dunk fest and not be that educational.
