The "current" head being so small in comparison to the rest of the body can lead one to assume that the ORIGINAL head was much larger & that 2500 years ago a pharaoh sculpted the existing head at that time into the smaller (out of proportion) one we partially see today.

the reason why there is controversy as to the age of the area, is that people who study it, get a hypothesis in there mind and cant see past that.
it is quite plain with evidential science that the area is way older than what is portrayed, and the dynastic Egyptians found a lot of the structure already in place and, simply added to the area, we just haven't found the evidence as yet, but we are getting there, humanity is a lot older than we realize,

There is writing in the Kings onwards that he found the Sphinx and he uncovered it. The Sphinx and it's God was said to promise him the kingdom if he did so. You are correct in saying there is no one document saying how the Sphinx was built but we certainly know it was far before the king that everyone credits for building it

Well I'm a Christian, and know of the plagues told about in Exodus. So my theory is that one of those plagues which took place before Moses led the Hebrews out of captivity may have damaged many thing's. If you look at the destruction visited upon them 🙏

Sphinx is older than most of the pyramids, I believe that as well. It was buried in the sand for so long that the people didn't realize what was under the sand. Just imagine seeing the area back when there was rain there and water around the structure !

I believe there is something mind blowing in, around or underneath the Sphinx. Possibly something that could be dated before the holy books of religions, and that’s why it’s guarded so heavily. With the religions from surrounding countries I think this information being known worldwide could put these ancient monuments in danger from religious extremists. I just think if it was just filled with treasure only why not let tourists see these tunnels and rooms that we all now know exist inside the Sphinx.

A little question. If it is carved out of bedrock doesn't that mean its as old as the earth and that the earth created it that some civilization just carved it into something. So the question should be what civilization carved it not what civilization built it

An enormous tsunami would of been created by the Theran volcano explosion in 1680 BCE, records in Egypt (Khemet) of another disaster occur roughly 1513 BCE, Could this water have washed into the Nile Delta with sufficient force to create flooding despite the Nile current running north or in some other way eroded the Sphinx?

Probably the Sphinx was studded with Gold and precious Gems, which got looted and in the process Nose and Ears got chipped off.
