That's cool and all but "Video Scaling Filter" is not one of the options under "Video Scaling Modules". I checked and unchecked every option and looked for the text "swscale" to appear in the textbox below. It did not appear. I then typed it manually, saved, closed, and reopened the preferences and "swscale" was gone. If I do this instead with the text "croppadd", "Video cropping filter" will be checked when I reopen the dialog. This implies to me that this checkbox has been removed? Why? "Swscale" still appears when I expand the filters dropdown. My VLC version is 3.0.3 Vetinari.

how does this work on the new version cause when you do the convert/ stream option there is NO FILTER option in the video codec tab

Excellent video but I had a small glitch going to the end of the exercise. after selecting the copping values under advance tools I did not find Video scaling option; the selection available is (video cropping filter) which exist again under convert/save. I am using the latest version of VLC. Any idea what is the cause of my problem

Hi.. So I did this and I thought I succeeded coz when i opened the output in VLC like you did.. it was cropped.
I tried opening it in windows media player and it looked just like the original.
so does this work only if you open it in VLC?

works like a charm in 2.2.1, but is not working on 3.0.11. Step are slightly different, on 3.0.11 there is no video "scaling filter option" instead you must use video crop filter, but it doesn't work anyway. Is faster just download the old version :P
