Great tips! BTW, your wall behind you is begging for a M.I. Gardener logo and your quote "Grow Big or Go Home!" Thanks for your great attitude and enthusiasm - it's infectious!

Pre-soaking hard and large seeds is what my great-great-grandmother, grand-parents, and my dad always did. I do it too. I even pre-soak my winter squash seeds, but those for only a hour or two. I gain about 3 to 4 days germination. Short growing season here in zone 4a. This is a very good video. Big thumbs up!

I pre-soaked my pea seeds this year and got 100% germination! Definitely worth it!

Quebec Homestead farmer soaks her carrot seeds and then mixedsthem with cooled 2T cornstarch :1 cup water ratio gel to keep them moist. She puts barely germinated carrot seeds into cornstarch-water gel mixture into a bag, cuts off a corner so it is like a pastry-icing bag and gently squirts the seed-cornstarch gel mix into the row. The name of the video is "Sowing Carrots in Cornstarch for great germination no thinning and prevent seed waste". Your videos are very helpful due to your experience, sense of experimentation, encouragement and generosity in sharing your knowledge. Thank you and God bless you and your family.

Last spring, I tried presoaking some of my seeds in homemade BOSS lactobacillus serum and had not only 100 percent germination but stronger growth with less inputs throughout the season. Over the winter, I've added the BOSS to my ongoing anaerobic garbage can composter that I keep in the garage. It's made compost in half the time as in the past without it and it's the freshest, sweetest smelling compost I've ever produced.

I'm definately trying this.
Old trick from my mother is to put dried egg shells in the base of the plant pot then the soil, when growing tomatoes from seed - have to say, the difference is incredible. :)

Some hot peppers take an extremely long time to germinate so it may not be called pre “soaking” but I always pre germinate my peppers on wet paper towel in a covered container.

Thank you. We are never sure whether to soak or not, this helps!

Thanks. this is helpful. I often have seeds that are almost impossibe to germinate. I'll tree for weeks, and get nothing. Then I'll toss the soil out, and they they will germinate.
