Grow The Best Zucchinis (Summer Squash) From Seed To Harvest! Zucchini are highly prolific plants, probably some of the most abundant producers in our garden. While some say they practically grow themselves, and that's mostly true, they can benefit from some assistance and guidance on our part to achieve legendary status in our gardens!

In Part 1 of this 2-part series, join me as I take you through both ways to start your Zucchini seeds this winter/spring: Direct Sowing into the garden mid-spring, and starting early indoors before last frost like we do tomatoes and peppers. I used to be called the zucchini Queen back in NJ. I fed half the neighborhood. When I moved to Tenn. all that changed. The bugs down here are sickening. I had infestations you would not believe... I ordered a greenhouse...but until it comes I decided to grow dwarf zukes in my spare bedroom. I wish I could show the pics, flowers galore tiny teeny zukes are starting to grow. I am back. Love your zucchini plants reminds me of what used to be. Very nice videos. Thank you.

Love gardening. I start carrots and peas in the green house, 1/3 plastic barrel ends and slide them outside. Fresh carrots end of June. We are in central B.C. Farmers Feed the World.

Last yr I bought a zucchini plant
And tossed it into the ground
Kinda forgot about it
And it died ...so I just took some seeds and tossed them into the area 2-3 seeds and ya I was begging people to take them
They were huge and wouldn’t stop
I kept some seeds from them
And I have just started 3 plants
2 just popped up
I planted them 4 days ago
The summer before same thing
Grow crazy
Seems I’m good at growing zucchini

I just wanted to say that I love all your videos, and they have been so helpful!

I just planted a single zucchini seed into to a 12”x12”x12” planter box I made. For the soil, I honestly went to a spot in my yard that had a ton of dead leaves and tree debris, as it has a lot of pine trees, and lots of fat, juicy worms in the soil. I layered my soil with the dirt and some straw, in hopes to give it more aeration, and it is in direct sun. The soil is pretty dense, but I think will be nutrient rich. Any thoughts for me, moving forward? Thank you so much in advance!!

When I grew the zucchinis two years ago, I got two major issues. #1: The plant takes way to much real estate while producing huge squash. Like 2 plants took half of my 4x8 raised bed. #2. Nobody in my family like it. Except for one, I ended up giving all of it away. Not planting it anymore. LOL. Once again, very good advise.

Hello, I've been a fan of your YouTube channel for a while now, you've helped me to get into gardening. I even based my garden around your teaching. I just have a question and need some advice if you have time. Recently my area (south georgia) received a ton of rain and it flooded a lot of places, and an ant colony has decided to make my raised bed its new home. how should I get ride of it without using chemicals? I tried the baking soda and sugar trick but it didn't work. Thank you in advance for any advice!

Hello,
Great video with a lot of useful and practical information and recommendations.
Quick question, is it too late to do the seeding at the middle of May in northern California? Also if I put the seeds in a water cup for germination do I have to add water to the soil before the shoots show up?
Thanks

Sorry Jeff just to be clear your recap says start early indoors 2 weeks after last frost date or direct sow 2 weeks after your last frost date so don’t start any differently indoors? I’m planning on doing mine soon and wanted to make sure. 🐝 safe and thanks 🇨🇦🧑‍🌾🌶💐🥬🥕

So when I was in live stream the temprature here was 4°c it felt like 9°c but now it's 0°c and before I checked the temprature I was like is it -4 or -5 because it did felt like that! Lol anyways I've never direct sown Zucchini seeds before always started them indoors and moved them to the garden later on... THEY GROW LIKE CRAZY!!!
Well I have to early sow them because *"I LIVE IN THE FROZEN TUNDRA!"* hope you get the joke.

I am new to the channel and love the content so far! We live in northern Ontario and was wondering what your grow zone is in your BC area?

Man I always go direct to garden on my crook neck and zucchini. They have just popped out the ground and already those darn spotted yellow lady bugs is already on them but the older plants there not bothering.

I planted Zico’s in the tropics and only one came up. It grew nicely for awhile and bloomed, made fruit but they got blossom rot about two inches long. I think the problem was they didn’t get properly pollinated.mathematics it died because I over watered. Oops! I will try again. Never give up.
