What Does Sport Mode Do On A Car-Easy Explanation

In this video, I tell you what sport mode does in a car. Many people have a vehicle that is equipped with sport mode, but they don't know what it actually does to the car and how it alters the engine and transmission from how they would regularly perform in a drive gear. With that being said, every car is different, but I am speaking about the majority of average vehicle when I explain things throughout the video.

He explained it perfectly even better than my manual... I changed my Pathfinder to sports mode and I could feel it jump once I accelerate from stop. Tried economy mode too lol

I own a 2012 Maxina. I noticed when I switch it into sports mode, the steering wheel tightens up and car responds a lot faster. Usually use it if I wanna zipp through traffic or going around
tight corners.

Basically it keep car in shift longer.. But on new ones add pressure on suspension's so car can stay stable when you do maneuver

Not exactly, although is true that it cannot add extra HP, the way that Sport Mode usually works is that ECU regulates the fuel injection and gives more power at a lower RPM. That's the most basic function of the sport mode. There are others that have to do with the suspension, the steering wheel pump, etc. Every vehicle's Sport Mode varies.

Well explained thanks for the clarity. I’ve had my car for 2 years and I kind of started driving in sport mode by accident because the shift from drive to sport is so minimal. I’ve now switched back to drive to keep her calm and steady

DOES consume more gas - thank you, was waiting to hear that answer. I have a 2016 Corolla Sport and I only flip into S mode when jumping onto the highway initially or when trying to squeeze into a turn right before a wave of incoming cars etc etc

S mode also gives you better stopped power and increases stability and control of your car. It’s really made for towing and going up and down hills. But I use it a lot on highways or when going through sharp corners.

I like feeling the shifts in mine you can tell there’s a big difference. In normal you can barley tell but in sport it’s way more noticeable
