This didn't feel like a filler episode. I found it very useful for game dev. Thanks for sharing

i was gonna make the joke "how to make money with your indie game? you don't" but then i thought that this video is too good and helpful to joke about.

Awesome to see some real talk about the downfalls of beeing a game-dev. beeing a game-designer i always see the youngsters with their bright eyes about my job while not knowing how hard it really is in the job.

People are starved for something personal, big studios can't do that. Awesome job setting up a community and the game looks sick! Wishlisted!

lol, that intro! Your commentary on knowing the creator is a great perspective!

This is your best content.

Not a carefully edited persona of a rockstar game developer, but a genuine exploration of the underexposed business side of trying to run and independent business.

This is interesting and helpful. You’re entertaining enough by the way you try to clearly explain things without setting up skits or running time wasting b-roll that gets skipped so we can get the core development content.

If you did a follow up showing how much revenue you make from this project, where it comes from, and all the costs associated- I can guarantee interest. Talking about money is taboo which immediately gets attention.

You really nailed this talk, it was super interested to hear about your thoughts- and approach on marketing your game.
I 100% agree with what you said. Making YouTube video's is a big investment, but like you mentioned, it's definitely worth it because of the many benefits is has. Also, for some reason there are a number of people who dislike the rise of funnier, more entertaining devlog style, but it's honestly a great way to make people stick around, even though they're not necessarily interested in game development or normally don't play many indie games.
Best to you and Punch a Bunch! :D

The best part about vlogs is that you’re forced to talk about games. Most newbies are scared to share their stuff because people will steal their ideas, but that’s absolutely not true case unless you’re doing a quick-to-make mobile game. Share early, share often!

You're 100% correct about wanting to buy a game because you've watched their devlogs. I've been keeping up with 2-3 other games that I'm super excited about! I really want to support all these people I've seen grow as developers and as people.

Man, this is far from a filler episode! I'm currently learning game dev and have been considering youtube for some time now. This is very useful info you're giving there! Keep it up and definitely make more videos like this! :D Thanks

I've been making games proffesionally for 15+ years and always longed to be independent. I've had this semi plan on how i would go about it for years but never really had the balls to give it a try. I have to say, watching you be succesful and listen to you describe almost exactly how I wanted to do it makes me excited! I'm definitely gonna try it out thanks to you :)

Also, skide godt gået med din youtube kanal ;)

Hey Pontypants
I really enjoy your content and I am kind of in a similar situation as you were.
To keep it short I started making gameplay edits & intros in my free time back in school, which helped me land my first job in post-production as a 3D artist/video editor in the advertisement after about half a year I quit to start studying game art (I was also playing around with ue4 for some years in my spare time),
it turned out to be a great success and I ended up being the/or one of the MVPs of every team I worked with because my skill set is pretty diverse and In the second 2 semesters I even got into coding the game in ue4 bps because we didn't have many good coders.
We did like one game every semester with a team game design/art/coding/producing students, and it was really fun we had all the control over the idea and how it turns out.
After university, I landed a job in an indie game studio where I currently do all the art, and it's fun I like my team the game is fun the salary is pretty good,
BUT I really wanna start out my own game someday that's like my big dream, but as you said in the video the old way of only making money on release if you even make money then is a bit stupid to go through.
I will start building up a yt channel right today and start thinking about a small fun game idea and get it all starting!
My motivation to finally do it is all over the top thanks to you! You may just changed my life!

I really like the presentation style in your devlog and that's a bonus on top of working on a game. Keep it up man.
