For a lot of things you can use it for storing files keeping documents and you usually upgrade it with more than 10 TB Storage and you can save a lot of things like certain movies games if your regular pc breaks you can store all the games information you need on your Home Server it's like a backup system

I’m doing something similar with some old PCs I still have. Trying to have my old powermac G5 as a file server and my old gaming pc as a VM system. Wanting to get into IT (and cybersecurity) and I figured that playing around with what I have it a great start

The simpler more accurate response is: its a powerfull machine that can offer a service to other devices via a network. Think when u're using yt, u are getting the data of the video u're watching from a server somewhere. U can use them as a gaming pc or other stuff, but at that moments its a pc not a server. A server serves other devices.
