I'm late to the party, but I just saw this one of your videos I've watched. In 2016, I bailed on a corporate-type job after six years in the same place; I packed up and was gone in ten minutes. Not one regret at the 8-year anniversary of leaving. A little hustling and cracking open of savings here and there but I landed somewhere better. I hope all is well for you. Love the videos.

Very well done! Enjoyable and good break from current events. Do not want to bore, but quit a job as I thought the boss an idiot. Was borne out by the firm’s insolvency a few years later. Joined another firm, had a wonderful career, and retired at 60. Go with your instinct.

Thanks so much for the video of the George Inn. Just visited London for the first time in four years and made the George Inn a stop based on your video. Had an enjoyable meal and some great ales. Great atmosphere inside.

Ah yes a pint of Harveys at the Royal Oak. Always call in when I visit from the West of Ireland. Refreshing to be in a genuine pub, thanks Tweedy 13:16

Good luck with the career! Stumbled in your videos a couple of days ago and love them. Actually shocked how many of these pubs I've also been in to

The Anchor Tap of course used to be in the heart of the Courage Anchor Brewery. There was another pub round the corner by the loading bank already shut when I worked there in 1977-78. It was a Sam Smith pub by 1992 when I had a drink in there with my late brother in law.

The George is by no means the only pub owned by the National Trust, though it is the only one in London. There are around 30 or so such as the Castle Inn, Bodiam, East Sussex; Fleece Inn, Bretforton, nr Evesham, Hereford & Worcs; Crown Liquor Saloon, Belfast etc etc

Tweedy, I've been looking at Tweedy Pubs for a couple of weeks now as a way to warm up to Britian before my first trip over and honestly, I have wondered what you might do with all your vlogs because they have captivated me. You've got the bones of what could be a definitive guide to British Pubs here. Think about it.

I liked the George, very good pub...also called in one called the Rake. I'd love to try a Harvey's Sussex in top condition...Good luck with a new line of work when it comes your way John🍺👍

I've never tried the Anchor tap, but the Royal Oak and the George Inn are favourites. The Royal Oak does serve a fantastic pint of Sussex Best. Many years ago I walked in one lunchtime and the landlord was polishing the glasses. I swear it was the cleanest glass I have ever been offered. The landlord said the beer was fussy and everything had to be spot on. The Plume of Feathers near Greenwich Park also does a seriously good pint of Sussex and a fine lunch.

The King's Arms, Newcomen St (just off Borough High St) also worth a look. And they have Harvey's Sussex Best! The pubs around Borough Market warrant a look (and all in close proximity) such as Southwark Tavern, Wheatsheaf, Market Porter, Globe.

Thank you for the recommendation to the 'Sussex embassy' aka the Royal Oak. I absolutely love Sussex Best it is a fantastic balanced bitter. On ingredients don't forget the water if they have their borehole, which obviously in volume is important along with the barley, hops and yeast.

You got a great docmentary style of talking to the camera. Good luck in your new employ when it comes around.

A nice video. Borough or Southwark is a good place to go for a few pints. Despite the large exodus of dare i say it, white Londoners who would have been the pub going types, London still has many, many untouched traditional back street style boozers. As well as visiting London for it's history it is always a bit of a bonus having such establishments to pop into.

Anchor Tap is a great pub, but similar to your experience often no-one in there when I've nipped in for a pint! 🍻
