This will give you a good idea of what kind of speeds to expect from a Starlink in the Australian countryside ! We also test the speed of a brand new Starlink straight out of the box (thanks to SpaceX), as well as what happens when we connect to a Tesla !

I don't think people understand the concept behind starlink.
Guys it is for areas with slow internet connections, there are areas, even in the developed world where people do not have easy access to super fast internet. This is either due to infastructure limitations or the fact that there aren't enough people living in one area to constitute installing fiber optics. Some people also do not live in a conventional house and lives in the middle of nowhere in some cabin.
I am only commenting this because people are saying "not impressed, i'm getting 900mbps with xfinity" or some shit.

This shit isn't made for gaming.

Used Starlink while on a Cruise through New Zealand. Best internet at Sea. never had an issue.

90% of these commenters have no idea why this product exists and it shows. It’s not for people who live in cities. It’s for people in rural and country side type areas where there’s no such thing as local internet providers or even phone service providers

Had starlink for nearly 18 months now and so far it’s worked very well.

Please state what Starlink do you have? Business, Residential only, residential with remote, RV??
RV is first to get limited, australia RV is currently not limited, there is a map that shows this. 3rd party speed test are normally quicker than starlink. Ive been using starlink for nearly a year 1st gen satellite dish 100-280mb download/ 10-25upload everywhere east coast aus.

That is honestly pretty impressive. My parents live in extreme rural midwest and I think this is going to be great for them.

Fascinating insight into Starlink across the week. Quite a wide variation in download speeds (although all are pretty fast). There was a fair bit of variation, but I'd put this down to your varying your location each day. The upload speed is pretty disappointing though.

Can you take the starlink with you places or does it stay in one place?

I thought upload would be higher to be honest but still faster than my upload in Australia

I found my brother's Starlink router in his attached garage pointing 180degrees in the wrong direction. Once we turned it around his speeds in the rest of the house increased dramatically. So my advice to Starlink users is just to ensure the router is pointing at your main use area.

Good information. Cheers. I appreciate the Tesla info as well. Yes some more starlink stuff would be great. Im contemplating joining SL for our new house....the question I'm posing to myself being, on balance is the expensive monthly fee and higher speeds better value than the download speeds I'm paying for now?...I dont know just yet.

So I really need this. It was so hard to find a starlink speed test haha. I didn't care what the generalized latency was, I wanted to know the actual upload latency. I've been using a 5G internet at home, and yes the download speed is great. The latency is fine, but the upload latency is garbage. For most people it's not a big deal. most wouldn't notice. But if you run a small business with servers (like me) or you're my Fiancee who is a big FPS gamer, you'll 100% notice. It actually drives my fiancee crazy because the latency is so horrible. So, knowing that Starlink has better upload is really good to know.

How fast will it get do you think? In a low contention area like rural UK or Canada or Oz etc

Basically this internet is for rural applications. Most people who made the dumb decision of leaving a city for the more cheaper country setting didnt know internet is basically non-existent. Starlink is big for these customers
Now for the basic comcast connections in towns that is almost rural is only 300 mbps by the time you get it to your device your getting 175 so starlink is pretty good when you compare apples to apples

Do you have 0% obstructions? Just got mine and the lowest I got was 1.5% because of some tall trees. And haven't been able to really test it because I'll need to mount to the roof of my house. That should be done next week.

Well, the pricing is quite high as for what you get, but if you're stuck in the wildlands, then it's a blessing!

Can you please post a pic of your obstructions shown by the APP? I have very minimal, but it says my connection could effect everything at times.

Thanks for the video Ryan, really interesting, do you know if they have any bandwidth limits?

What I noticed is, that I get different speeds in the Starlink app, and useally a faster speed when I use the official Speedtest app by Ookla. Do you or any have the same experience?
