Flow Cytometry

Flow cytometry is a technique widely used in cell biology. The instrument that performs flow cytometry is called flow cytometer. The flow cytometer can calculate several parameters such as the number of cells, flourescence in cells, presence of granules and cell size in real time. The flow cytometer can also perform cell sorting, where it separates the cells with the help of electric field.
