Sorry for the dark and grainy video, I recorded this on the roof of my house around 1:00 AM.

I made my FIRST ever amateur radio satellite contact on the International Space Station (ISS) very early around 1:00 AM CDT on Wednesday May 22, 2024!

This was such a fun experience, even more special with the gentleman I made the contact with, KF5PV, allowing his young nephew to try making a contact for himself. Hopefully Dominick also enjoyed our short contact, and this experience encourages him to explore the amateur radio hobby farther.

Hopefully this will be the first of MANY satellite contacts to come!

Equipment Used:
Arrow Antennas Arrow II Yagi Antenna
AnyTone 878UV Plus HT
GoPro Hero 10 Black

set the antenna op on a tripod. It will keep it steady and make it easier to follow the sats. I also have a tracker on either my phone or computer to assist in pointing the antenna. I really need to dig out my stuff to get back into it. You've made me want to get back into it. Who knows, some of these sat have a large coverage area!! We may get to talk to each other all the way up here in Canada! Not the first time I got a contact from Texas. Just need to be quick!

There's a couple of apps ya can buy for your phone that tell you exactly where ISS is or when due to pass-by next.
