It's a long one! Trying to keep things simple for new BMW GS owners. In this video, I take you through the various riding modes that the""MODE" button on the right allows you to select. Then we have a look at the suspension/dtc button on the left hand side.
NOTE: Some model years may have different functions etc with the buttons.

00:00 Introduction & the riding Mode button, as I ride to my local Bmw dealership
03:43 A quick chat about Eco Mode , as we arrive at the dealership
09:14 Partial Integral brakes, as we head back to the man cave
09:47 Back in the man cave, make sure you look at the right BMW manual
11:07 Lets talk about all the riding modes and what they can do for us
15:42 So, what can we turn off from the electronic safety net?
17:35 Dynamic ESA, what's that all about
21:51 How do we change the damping setting?
24:04 How do we adjust the spring pre-load?
27:30 Conclusion

Remember I am no expert and this is only my take on the GS manual.....I may be wrong🙈

Ok! I'm 2.5 years in and I'm JUST getting to grips with this bike! NOW I understand these settings. Well done! On another note, I was offered a week's work in Riyadh and to get to Heathrow from where I live is either a) a nightmare or b) ridiculously expensive (and potentially unreliable.) So I strapped a small case to the rear and loaded up the old Kriega back pack and off we go. 106 miles and 1hr 45minutes. As you know, the bike parking at LHR is all free. T4 was great: through those huge hydraulic bollards and under cover of a flyover. The big bonus were the ground anchors! I decide to cover it (cheap cover from Amazon - had it for years) big fat hairy Oxford lock and chain - crash helmet chained to the grab handles with a bicycle lock - and off I went! Bit tricky changing outside and not sure what I would do in the depths of winter but I felt it was a big adventure and I was so excited (which makes me smile because I'm 68 this year!). Love your vids - keep 'em coming!

How good is this, we know we should read the manual, but you have just answered many questions so much more easily and great graph too, thanks 🙌🏼👍🏼

I’m buying my new R 1250 GSA in 4 days. I’ve done one full day riding course on one a couple of months ago at the BMW Performance Center. This video is an extremely helpful reference I will be using as a supplement to familiarize myself with my new bike. Thank you 🙏

Should have seen this a few days ago as it would have saved me time looking through the manual. The suspension changes were explained last year when I picked up my bike but needed a refresher so resorted to the manual. Keep up the good work Paul with these informative posts 😊

I've gone from HD to BMW and want to leave the asphalt and go more gravelroads, wheelie and clear obstacles. This video was superb and now I can actually set up my bike the way I want. Thanks a lot

I now own a 2019 R1250 GS and a 2021 S1000 XR. Your videos have been incredibly helpful to understand all of the key electronic functions. Well done and keep the videos coming!

Thanks for the video. For the rider mode, I use road and dynamic a lot and rain when it’s wet. For suspension mode, road can be quite bouncy so dynamic works best for me. I often move the suspension to low when I need the extra assurance on a loaded bike in a gravel car park or when boarding a ferry or the channel tunnel train.

Great job, actually I did forget things that I knew previously, and this was a wonderful refresher course for lazy me. As a short rider, I do enjoy the minimal suspension setting. I did do Enduro Training and forgot to deactivate the DTC while climbing a steep hill with gravel and sand. Needless to say I fell over. Thanks for effort! Greetings, Jim

Thank you, thank you, for this video. This was the info I needed, ..., so many options and I use only a few. So when I wanted to change something in the settings I forgot what and how . Very nice video.

Excellent, thank you for taking the time to figure this all out. Makes perfect sense, as the sales BMW boffin wants to talk to me about the suspension ahead of my test drive. Can't wait to try it now.
