Cleaning your trumpet is not hard and should be done regularly to ensure your instrument stays in good condition! You’ll need a snake, valve brush, mouthpiece brush, cloth, valve oil, and grease. Take everything apart, use the snake and brushes, and let sit in warm (not hot!) soapy water. Let soak for 1-2 hours (if it needs it). The. Make sure to get all the soap out, let dry completely. Reassemble, oil, grease, and done!

I cleaned brass instruments for a summer with a Music Store that handles a lot of student instruments! Couple recommendations: soak first (half hour at most, not 1-2 hours) and THEN scrub, it softens and breaks down more. Also, it needs to be done EVERY 1-2 MONTHS, 3 is too much and that’s when the worst internal tarnishing happens. Good tip on not using hot water!

3 to 6 months seems like not enough, I usually don't go passed 1 to 2 months if I am playing often. I gonna say one thing I don't like about cleaning is that in the 1st valve if the snake was smaller I would be able to insert it in one of the holes and make it come out the bell but unfortunately I haven't been able to do it but oh well no biggie 🙃
