The stock saddle on my Merida E160 8000 certainly didn’t suit me, two consecutive days of mountain biking were simply torturous.
The ERGON SME Mountain Core Prime Mens design was the perfect answer for me.
From the start the relief and support was perfect with 50-60km back country adventures in Tasmania or power hour sessions on local tracks around Melbourne showing what a difference the right saddle makes.
I gave my old stock saddle to a friend who thought it was great. This just proves the personal nature of what is the right saddle.

I have a WTB Volt carbon on my acoustic mtb. Love it. A weight weenie saddle that is comfortable. I tried to use it on my emtb when I first got the bike. OMG. Bad, very bad. On the emtb I sit longer and ride farther. On the acoustic I move, stand, sit, slide all the time. I also stop a lot more to rest on a longer ride. On the emtb I am like the Energizer bunny, I just keep going. So I switched to an Ergon emtb saddle. Weight is not a factor, long time in the saddle comfort is. The setup differences between acoustic and electric are significant. Saddle, grips, bar height and width, pedals, seat height, tires, wheels, brakes are all different between my two bikes. It has taken me two years to figure some of these out. And I am still tinkering.

The most important point was the last one. The nose on my e bike looks so low when just standing in the corner when not riding. But when in fully compressed the seat is only pointed a tad. Makes it so comfortable when pedaling

You do the same video with the sqlabs 60x active saddles, currently running these on both emtb and non emtb, first saddle I've been able to ride without a short liner.

When I mentioned that my saddle didn't have the soft tissue cutout, my urologist looked at me like I was an idiot. I got prompt permission from my wife to spend $200 on a nice saddle.

Thanks for the video and content.
As ergon are your partners it would be nice to actually show us how to set up a saddle, from which position to tweak from. I've just upgraded from my flat as a pancake saddle that came as standard to an Ergon SM Pro that has contours dips and a flair at the back. Take as said the bike is level, which two points do i put on the saddle with my spirit level to make sure the saddle is flat with that rise at the rear!?
Thanks.

Hubby and I both only use ergon sm-e sport women's (shorter nose). I've tried just the sport model and while it was fine, it wasn't as comfortable as the sm-e.

Last week i purchased the SM-E saddle for my Specialized Camber, i've seen lots of videos recommending it for none e bike riders. I have to admit i'm struggling with the riding position of it. It certainty supports my sit bones better but I feel like its pushing my weight too far forward on the bike. I've pushed it back as far as possible, but it still doesn't feel right? Any suggestions for this before i send it back for an SMC saddle.

Short Cranks. ?? 150mm cranks make a difference to comfort??

The Nukeproof Sam Hill saddle works for me. I needed a saddle with the lowest possible stack height, due to my emtb’s seat tube design along with my taller dropper post choice. It’s comfortable enough for me, but your results may vary.

How on earth did you guys do this segment and no one on your crew addressed the fact that you are peddling seated at a much higher speed on a ebike??? Therefore it can be very helpful to use a softer saddle to keep from bouncing around. Also, it’s much more comfortable.

So this is basically an ad for ergon saddles not, as the title suggests, some useful information regarding saddle choices. Basically SPAM

Saddles rails there is a load of rubbish about light weight and after a while they will snap, to width as you get older you will notice that a wider saddle will work, I find Specialized saddles are for big Americans and it's the first thing to go in the bin. Why o why do saddle makers put a cloth material on the edges as it gets wet and falls apart, and all this rubbish about colours just get black as when you crash it will always look crap just stick to black. What he says Owen says, about seat post you get what you pay for cheap will always fail been there and done that. Same as flat pedals get ones without bushes as there crap only bearings. Seat width I run is 132mm usually Fizik Gobi as it's flat but can't buy them anymore so on a Fizik Tundra which is good but tried SDG because of my motocross back ground but it fell apart so next seat will try will be Ergon.

Flat all the way for me, I can't get used to the rear curve I end up sitting on the edge on them all and yeah completely ruines the ride. I've got about 9 expensive saddles non of what feel comfortable or right, then found Velmia MTB saddle with memory foam 143mm perfect and I'm a big guy over 250lbs anyway always think the bigger my butt I'd need a wider saddle, but no it's 2nd smallest one I've got and it's perfect for me! I do need the padding the memory foam is fantastic because of my weight. I crush my weight on the saddle! I do have a specialized one the same size with little to no padding well it's that solid gel I had to go home to swap it out for my cheaper same sized saddle because had the memory foam! But it is a nice looking saddle on the emtb! It looks the part to!
