This village holds the story of a massive migration ordered by the emperor centuries ago. Yet, for some reasons, residents have left their homes, leaving the village on the brink of disappearing.

I was born in a remote village in Southern China and my parents brought me to the cities—and later abroad—when I was seven. Watching this video brought back memories of my hometown. It’s heartbreaking to think that many of these villages will vanish in the years to come, as the older generation passes on and the younger ones move to the cities. The village where I grew up, which holds so many cherished memories, is no exception. I visit almost every year, and each time I find something worth capturing to preserve those moments. This Chinese New Year, I’ll be going back again, and I’m excited to document it through video. Your channel has been a great source of inspiration for me!
