In this video, I show how to safely convert your CAD details into Revit drafting views (used for standard details). You may be aware of the fact that you can import a CAD file and explode it so you can turn CAD geometries and text into Revit elements. I highly recommend doing that in an interim (temporary file) and not in your live project. If somebody in your team has done that, be sure to check my videos on how to remove CAD imports and and clean import items in your Revit model.

The quick way to convert details once the import has been exploded is to replace CAD lines and text with Revit line types and text. However, I highly recommend you spend a few extra minutes and use parametric Detail Components. These will make your details a lot more efficient and easier to edit. This is a lot like using blocks in AutoCAD instead of individual lines. So much better!
