In the process of transition from Autocad to Revit, this is a good tutorial to use your detail library and keep going.

One of the golden rules of Revit in professional practice is 'do not import CAD'. The model gets heavily polluted with line styles and fills.

As another viewer suggested, nesting into a detail family and cleaning up first is the best method.

Do you have a tutorial for a full renovation project from demolition to proposed floor plan to RCP? How do you show a lighting layout with soffits in an RCP?

Have a lot of doubt about it.. Good choice of topic.. Very much needed👍.. When I try to import cadd directly to a floor level, some kind of error occurs and nothing gets imported..Do you know why is it so?.. Hope you'll explain them in next classes.. Your classes are my goto for all revit doubts.. They are really helping me improve my revit skills!!! 🙌

Hellow. In Structure, can you show how to extract quantity and type of piles from pile cap family for scheduling purposes. eg. 4 pile group, say 600 dia pile used and pile annotation to be given as P1. any tips pls share

really bad advice. if you do this in a company environment, your bin manager is gonna get super pissed. importing cad drawings directly in your project will screw up all your line styles and import all the chaotic line styles from the dwg details. you would end up having in some cases over 1000 line styles which is shit. The right way to import a cad detail into a drafting view is to create a detail element family and then import the cad in that family. you can explode it, modify it, etc and only afterwards load it in the project. that way you can also quantify it.

Hi Balkan Architect, Very good tutorial. Well explained, however I would caution exploding CAD files in revit projects because it would increase file size. I suggest linking CAD files or importing CAD details in a separate blank Revit project, explode it, purge it & make all necessary changes then link the view to your current Revit project. 🤓

Import CAD and I would be pissed off if someone did that at work!
You are providing bad information, always link your CAD files!

Please do not do this. This is terrible advice because it will bring all kind of junk into your files which is difficult to clean-up afterwards. If you don't have to share the model with others or work on a central file, fine... But other than that, never do this.
