Windows 10 Update Not Installing After Restart System | Restart Required Windows 10 Fix | 2024

Windows 10 has a built-in troubleshooter to check and fix issues with Update. I would suggest you run this troubleshooter to check if the issue is with your Windows update.

METHOD 1 :
1). Open this PC and Go into C Drive.
2). In C Drive go into the "Windows" Folder.
3). then go into SoftwareDistribution Folder.
4). then Go in to "Download".
5). Then Delete the Latest Update Folders and restart the system.

METHOS 2 :
Refer to these steps:

1. Press Windows key + X, select Control panel.

2. Change the view by option on the top right to Large icons.

3. Click on Troubleshooting and click on the view all option on the left panel.

4. Run the Windows Update troubleshooter.

5. Restart the system and check if the issue is resolved.

HELP ME
when I try to install the new windows update on my gaming laptop
its stuck at downloading 100%
I have a storage of 894 gb empty

It worked.. as expected, I was having issues with the Windows Cumulative Update not installing after restart, I forced installed it using the Windows Update Catalog website but it just kept popping as "pending restart", I erased the Software Distribution content within the current date, and now it worked, Thanks a lot!

Thank you for your help. I was stuck for some time after having a crash and manage to do a system restore to gain access to the PC. The annoying update for windows, version 21H2 keep coming back and your simple instruction had managed to get passed this error.

Nice! I encountered this problem a couple of weeks ago when restoring my system from a restoring point and it produced for me to not being able to install the update after the restart. I followed all your steps but, in my case, I deleted the folder inside DOWNLOADS in the folder SOFTWARE DISTRIBUTION, so it's in the folder download where I found the update and after deleting, downloading and restarting everything was fine.
