I used to do water testing for Nitrates as part of my PhD. In the final part of the long procedure I had to add liquor Ammonia to induce the colour whose intensity would be measured to determine the nitrate concentration. I still remember the jolt I used to get when I used to open the bottle of liquor ammonia. And my lab mates used to start screaming "who did not water after peeing?"
