I was the only EMT in a class of EMT's willing to try this. The instructor told me to close my eyes and wait to smell it. Wow. That's the most awake I felt in a long time. Stuff feels like something hot just got shoved up your nose!

When I was a kid, me and my grandfather went to a newly opened attraction at one of the big NYC museums called "The power of poison". At one point we went to this room where a guy taught everyone about cyanide, and for some experiment (I forgot why) they gave us each a chicken liver submerged in ammonia. My grandfather is a chemist, which is part of the reason he went with me. During the experiment he told me to get a whiff of the ammonia, and with him being a chemist, he thought that I would waft the smell from a safe distance with my hand. As soon as he told me to smell it though, I put my face right up to the beaker of ammonia as close as I could and took a HUGE whiff. I had a headache for the entire ride back from NYC, which would've been about 5-6 hours

If you’ve never sniffed one of these you truly have no idea how powerful it is. I was passing out one time after getting blood drawn and as soon as I sniffed this thing I instantly snapped out of it. Shit is crazy

Physics teacher got some ammonia in a small dish and handed it around the class telling everyone to sniff it and pretend it was the worst thing they’d ever smelt. Each person took a sniff, contorted their face terribly, and handed it on. Everyone assumed it was just the pretending at work, and not a single person avoided a deep sniff of ammonia. Then he taught us how to carefully waft a scent.

I remember when I was a kid, my dad came up to me, with my brothers, and said — “smell this, it smells like strawberries.”
It didn’t smell like strawberries. Haha

My brother did this to me when I was 16 driving us home from school. We grew up taking karate and boxing. He said it was a cherry popper and kept saying how good it smelt. He said as soon as I pop it take a huge whiff. I kept saying no but he was very persistent and annoying. So I got frustrated and said ok pop it pop it hurry. Man I took a huge whiff and flew off the road into the ditch and took out a mailbox. My eyes where watering so bad I could not see. To come to think about it I still owe him back for that. 24 year revenge plot!! It’s on!! Oh yeah these things are made to revive you when you get knocked out.💪

Until a couple of years ago you could buy those ammonia ampoules in pharmacies in Germany for psychological reasons. Some people sometimes fall into a state, we call dissociation. That's when you're so under stress, you drift away in a trance like state. And the only way to get you out of this would be a strong impulse like strong pain. This is a genius way to bring you back without having to hurt you
