Agree - I came across their advice a few years ago and I just started writing again. I thought back to what I had studied about writing last time and "therefore/but" was one of the first memories I had. So simple. So powerful!
Also recommend the book "Invisible Ink" by Brian MacDonald - by far the best book on writing I have ever read.

Start at the climax of your story and work back through causal links. The death star attacks the rebel base because the emperor needed them destroyed. They found the base
Alderon, because the princess said that it was on dantoin... The emperor needed that base destroyed because.... etc, etc...
