These are not actually for the safety or bad roads. They are because back in the day, truckers installed these mods so they could carry extra cargo and the back of the truck did not lower itself. Now, the cops couldn't determine if the truck is overweight or not. This later became a style as it was common back in the day.

As a Brazilian, I can confirm that this is most certainly not the reason 😂. This is done solely to look cool. Unfortunately it reduces the safety of the truck on the road, especially when the roads are bad.
