This video demonstrates an excersize for finding the sweet spot when spinning on ice figure skating.

Gliding backwards on one foot lift your ankle to find the first toe pick to gently “tickle” the ice. Not a heavy scratch.

The light scratch should also stay constant so it doesn’t rock as this will make your spin unstable :)

Thank you for this! The rocker on my blades aren’t as pronounced as yours (I have Jackson’s stock mirage blades which have an 8’ rocker). I’ll try this exercise next time I’m at the rink, but do you have any specific tips for flatter blades?

How do I balance on that spot? Do I have to raise my heal? I just can’t seem to figure out how to stay on that spot or find it. It is either I am flat on the blade or on the toe pick….

I did the exercise a couple of time I still can’t find the sweet spot. When I do the exercise my bottom toe pick drag the ice smoothly why can’t I find the sweet spot?
