Drift Away (Steven Universe The Movie) 【covered by Anna】

Hello everyone! This week I sang Drift Away from the Steven Universe Movie!

Something about this song hit so hard man, I was not emotionally prepared for it. Sometimes it's fun to go into a song without having a ton of background knowledge on what its from/about. Obviously, having enough information to understand the context of what's going on is important but most songs provide that for you. I like testing out my chops like this, it keeps me on my toes. I don't do this super often but I always seem to luck out with Steven songs (mostly because I’m not a super avid watcher of the show). I haven’t watched the movie yet because I wanted to sing a few songs first but booOOY I was not expecting to have such an emotional response. I also wasn’t expecting such an emotionally raw song either.

As much as I love singing in funny voices, it felt right to sing this more so as myself. I think a lot of people can relate with this song and taking away the silly voice felt a bit more real to me. I hope I’ve managed to convey the same emotional response I felt the first time listening.

Change is finished and will be uploaded as a bonus video in the next few days! Now I’m going to settle in with my best buds and finally watch the movie!

Pink leaving Spinel isn't what angers me, it's the fact that she never came back. Even after her change of heart she never thought about bringing Spinel to Earth as Rose Quartz so she can live a happy life. She just threw her aside and forgot about her, like an old toy.
