Great advice applies worldwide, and if your choice is the Philippines, become a Filipino, live like a local, eat like a local, and do things to keep you happy within reason.

Immigration for me is 3000 every two months and once a year when you get acr card along with two months it is 7000 so total year around 22, 000 for the whole year

3:40 Immigration? Huh? You pay the Government of Philippines or something?

Scott, great job on the video. I hope my experiences are a good resource for others who wish to do the Philippines on a smaller budget. Everything depends on being resourceful, coming with a willingness to learn from the locals, and meeting the right girl who can help you make the connections and community you need to do things right.

I’m glad that people who have a lot of money to spend enjoy their lives in the Philippines, but where does that leave the working class guy, the Regular Guy, who maybe doesn’t have a huge savings or pension? Having lived here on a budget these past months, I’m happy to report that the Philippines is for us too.

I have plans to settle here permanently and I am never looking back. I can live a better life here for less money or I can go back to the United States and work my butt off for the rest of my life, get less quality and quantity for my money, and never properly retire. Hard choice I know!

I liked this video. You have moved nicely across the spectrum of blogging into an area that can appeal to an audience that is more interested in provincial living, than purely engaging in a string of hookups. It’s great that you can tackle multiple topics . Keep up the good work.

I retired recently, started my social security, and plan to go to the Phils permanently in early 2023. I've vacactioned there for many years, so I know my way around a bit, though not as well as someone living there like yourself. This video is very inspirational on living cheap, and I never thought about being in the mountains where it is so cool and cheaper electric bills, but that has got me rethinking where I want to live now. Definitely I am going to travel around in the first year before settling down, and Bohol is one of the first places I'll check out. Thanks to Scotty Boy for putting out such great vids!!!😀

What about medical like Philhealth or even SSS fees, or emergency savings if someone gets sicks and needs to be hospitalized, Philhealth will help a lot but it won’t cover for everything.
Also vacation trips at least once a year, and since you are young and more likely plan to have kids in the future, I bet that budget will double at least, kids are expensive anywhere you go, even in Philippines it will cost you, and probably double your budget even with all your savings.
These are the few things that are important to consider (well the vacation is not as important, but the others are).

Great stuff. I also think that networking is key. All the guys with the best deals got them from their gf's family it seems.

Expats who get a 2000$ pension check every month will find a way to spend it and then say they can't imagine living on much less than that. For a while I was living on half of that *in Canada*, so I can't believe it's not feasible in the Philippines.

Nitpick: 8:29 2747ft is 837m, so Malaybalay is not as high as Baguio.

Great point on being able to live near but not in Baguio or Malaybay. I never thought about that possibility and it’s a great strategy. I was so impressed by Bukidnon on the small exposure I have had there.

2nd most 'cool' famous place is - Tagaytay ! --- Only a 2 hour bus ride S of Manila @ 2, 000 ft - and rural - w/only 85, 000 population. Many farms and clean mountain air with international food available and a lot to do. Much cheaper than Manila but a bit more than the provinces. Proximity to Manila allows for easy airport access or quality medical services or just for fun ? Scenic and beautiful - a 24/7 Casino - Amusement Park - 24 hour restaurants - and - gorgeous views of Taal Lake. Much cooler temps & an hour or so from the beaches at Batangas !

Half his budget is rent You could pay cash for a cheap house and motorbike and not rent either. I live in 3 to 5 countries a year, and avoid the hot, cool and rainy seasons. There are ways to reduce food and energy costs as well.

I pay 200$ a month in La Paz Baja for my large appartment. I had to walk and walk to find it, but it was a great investment since I've been renting it for 6 years. I wish I only ate home and all that but I like to go out and I have another spending item... I spearfish a lot, addiction level, I go 4 days a week. jajajajaja Planning to move my operation in the Philippines
