Unfortunately it doesn't work like this. The work needed to charge the battery is added to the work needed for the electric motor to drive the bike. One is basically cancelling out the other. There's no such thing as a free lunch. The laws of thermodynamics says so.

Great job on this and it does work for the doubters it's the exact same thing as your car alternator the wheel replaces a large car belt the much smaller motor that does not take as many amps or watts to run is drawing less than the car alt is making as long as you are making more amps and volts than your taking it's just like your bank account and car alt's can produce between 12V and 240 Volts depending on how they are wired, size type of brush vs permanent magnet plus the bike can still be peddled and has freewheel for less drag.

For the folks saying thats an electric motor, it is an alternator, not an electric motor. It would take a lot of pedalling to charge a batter, but it would work.

Would it not be better to mount the alternator in next to the sprocket at the back wheel. It seems odd to me to have it powered by the tyre. Doesn't that friction between the tyre-alternator create wear and also affect free-rolling?

Clutch the alternator in to be driven as an engine brake coasting down hill, leaving it disengaged going uphill..clutch on off alternator with idle tensioner and belt n pulley? Or whatever but clutch it, for engine braking?

This auto alternator begins work at 3000-4000 rpm on its's shaft. it's pulley near 56mm = 0, 176 m circumference from wheel. For normally working you must to pedal about 500-600m/s (nearly 2000 km/h)

Its perplexing today's auto engineers claim this can't work on EV's having alternators on all for moving wheels recharging the drive train batteries. With a single alternator specifically for recharging the instrument panels, radio, AC etc..
