I totally agree 👌🦇❤️ specially about Waves

De-essing doesn't happen at the end of the Sonnox Voca. It's over on the right in the gui, but happens before compression or saturation

Thanks for calling out Waves and IK. That kind of bad experience is worth mentioning.

I love the Nectar 4 approach. I use it when I need to make a quick mix for a client. Another important note is that all those modules work as separate plugins that can be added to literally anything! Also, that Manley Vox Box works awesome on bass guitar.

Great video and tutorial. I watched this one to see if I should buy Sonnox Voca on offer at £25 but, like you, found myself very taken with the Joey Sturgess plugin as both a pretty complete suite whilst creating sounds I like. I have the Izotope Advanced suite though not the latest (Nectar 3 is what I have) but for some reason (maybe too much to fiddle with and not all on view at once, also because I never quite buy into the sounds I get) I very rarely use them . Could have saved myself some money there ha ha but this whole sound production thing is one big learning curve and I'm self learning at an advanced age, with being a musician making music as my first priority so.... one thing I have learned is you can buy too many bargains that you don't actually take to using! Incidentally, I've (and although I don't muck like Waves) I actually return sometimes to my Greg Wells Vocals plugin for a quick result, and that's one I bought when just starting out some 6 or so years ago.

There is also Al Schmitt signature plugin from Leapwing, The Spirit by Louis Bell, THE SAUCE by Dj Swivel.
Waves has a lot of Vocal signature plugins. I use CLA Vocals sometimes, it's cool.

Thanks for doing this comparison!😊 I really like the comparisons. If you ever decide to revisit vocal channel strips, I’d be grateful if you’d include Voxformer from Voxengo.

You also missed Autotune EFX+ 10. I use that one as a Vocal channel Strip all the time. Especially the compressor is a new take on dial in settings and it is the fastest I have used to get a compression sound I want.

I tried the one from nuro audio, thought it was a cool plugin.

Check out Gamma Vocal Suite. It surprised me!! I think that one + VOCA placed before it is a winning combination!!

Nectar 4 sounded pretty darn good to my ears but still uncertain if it's worth the price.

Geoff, I'd appreciate it if you could review Senn HD490 Pro and compare it to Beyer DT 1990 Pro. The HD490 Pro is the flagship studio headphone from Sennheiser and it's only fair for it to be compared to the flagship studio offering from Beyerdynamic, the DT 1990 Pro. I'd really love to hear your take on these headphones.

Btw, you haven't uploaded any video for almost a year now. I hope you're doing well and nothing is wrong with your health and affairs.
