I think the Universal Audio (UA) Pultec plugin is cleaner, smoother, with a sheen, while the others have extra "noise" beyond that, so I'm buying it.

This format is very Nice. I have the UAD and Bettermaker. For me the winner of this video is Kiive. For techno, the Kiive has a great sound on Low End, but is my opinion. UAD is more clean and the sound of Waves is very good. UAD and Waves have a great sound. I don't like the others. I produce hypnotic techno, and the sound of kiive is for me the best. Thank You! ❤

Love the format. Acustica wins for me, tube tech and bettermaker sounds similar and brighter - very good but not a pultec to my ears. I don't like the scoop of the kiive one and the grainy upper mids from the Waves puigtec. ✌️

For a clean sound I prefer the bettermaker but it doesn't really sound like an actual pultec, it is it's own thing and sounds good. But if I'm after the sound of an actual pultec (TubeTech) I prefer the Acustica Titanium EQ.

The UA sounded smoother and warmer to my ears.

This is the best comparison video. Softube has a great balance between realism and excitement. The UAD and Acustica are slightly more natural/accurate to the hardware, but after using Acustica, Softube and Noiseash, I end up reaching for Softube, at least in my own productions. Bettermaker sounds too digital for me. Could be great on some sources though, like vocals. Because i use a lot of electronic sources which already sound hi-fi, I prefer a more analog less high-tech sounding EQ coloration. Waves is at the bottom for me, i feel like their version is the oldest and I definitely don’t hear it keeping up with the others in high end detail. Waves has a grittiness in the highs i really dislike; i’d never use it if I owned it.

AA Purple wins.., sounds very hardware

It's not too fair to include the Softube, Kiive, and the Bettermaker, since they're different models.

AnalogObsession was quite the surprise in the way it sounded, nice and musical even compared to UAD. Purple did not sound too good, although the Pre was not engaged so it's not too fair against it.

The worst was Waves.

Btw, if talking about the UAD bass boost, it cannot handle bumps in the infra range (like in original 909 kicks or d16 Drumazon 2). Or if the input signal has a DC Offset. It will have a huge audible aliasing noise, if you put a compressor afterwards (and push it very hard). UAD has confirmed it, but not going to fix it. Just said that I need to put an EQ before their Pultec. So UAD is very meeh...

Waves was the clear winner for bottom end, Kive for top.. but overall, Waves.
