Hey Snubs. I think it is worth mentioning nmon. Very nice graphical interface and works across different distributions.

Cheers learnt something there I've used "ps -ef" since forever. I did not know about aux. You inspired me to read the man page.

I have some machines up for almost a year straight, 22hrs is OK unless the machine is hot. Also you can find a specific process Shannon by typing ps ax l grep bt

load average deserves more than 5 seconds. I have boxes that run with a load average between 2 and 10 all day long with plenty of CPU twiddling its thumbs. I found a server that was up for 1400 days and it was running fine.

Do you know that sound that Homer makes when he sees donuts ? That's how I feel when Shannon's baggy shirts are in the laundry. Sorry Shannon, it was a good show, but techno lust isn't as deep seated as plain old lust.

personally, i usually just enter "ps -ef | sort -nk 4" to quickly find out which processes are taking the most out of my CPU.... and then kill -9 them if they're not important.

166 pending updates? for shame! also - 22 hours for uptime on a Linux machine is nothing - Linux is made to not need a reboot.

"My uptime is 22h. That is way too much, I should restart." -WHAT?
- normal people measure uptime in days... (or only people I know?)  - My normal maximal uptime is ~ a little under month... (?)

Just to let you know Shannon, you have a doppelgänger on other side of the globe, she is blond though.

I've always grepped ps aux or used system monitor. Lame.
