I came here new to welding, and left with a masters degree in cooking.

If you smell sausages when your welding take your mask off & make sure your pants aren't on fire.

That sausage analogy was actually fantastic at describing what you're looking for in a good setting combination.

38 years old. Decided to change my career. Started welding school a few days ago. Mix of beginners and more advanced students. Add to that the loud ass vents and demonic AC (Texas) it’s hard to hear. Instructor goes from beginning to advanced info without warning leaving me a bit lost at times. In the classroom it’s one instructor and 15 students. At least here i can watch some videos after I get home to fill in the gaps from school and it’s just me so it feels a little more one on one.
Thankfully I’m not paying 150$ to RENT a video 😑 (school books ain’t cheap).
Thanks for making videos.

A very informative video for someone who hasn’t used a mig welder before like me. Explains how the controls on the welder unit affect the weld. Very good

His way of explaining this is amazing. This is exactly what I was looking for!

My wife keeps asking me why I wear a welding helmet when cooking breakfast.

Thanks. Had a MIG welder in my garage for four years, now I have the basic knowledge on how to use it. So starting tomorrow practice practice practice.

Thanks

Out of all the videos on MIG settings on YouTube this is the first one that actually made sense. Your analogy of flame/sausage is brilliant. Thank you!

When using thin sharp metal with jagged edges avoid adding red sauce from finger

Been welding for about 4 months, thankfully most of what I've welded has been dirty and rusted so I can weld clean metal like a boss. Great video btw

Great analogy, very informative and dead-pan humour, at the same time .

Thank you. I had to do some repair welding after a 10 year lay-off. Your guidance was excellent and brought back all I had forgotten.

Weirdly enough I've just been frying sausages and they where popping like crazy, 2 of them split right open so now I'm off to buy a mig welder, see if that doesn't get me a better sarney

"Sausage velocity knob"

Never calling it anything else.

Very good. I just upgraded from an arc to a mig. Didn't do any practice or trial with settings, just jumpped straight in. Made a hell of a mess but now know what I did wrong. Hot enough but way too slow on the wire speed. Will actually have a practice on some scrap now and get a nice bead going.

If someone had explained it to me describing everything as food then I think all of what I was taught at college may have stuck a bit better.SAUSAGE VELOCITY!!!
