One thing I think I've discovered when it comes to determining your true passion is possessing a willingness to fail repeatedly in its pursuit.

For me, it's being passionate about what I do outside my comfort zone. Over time my passions have become personalised. Where I had a dozen causes, I now have those which serve my integrity towards others. My compassion for fairness and justice. My forgiveness towards those who wish me harm. And my commitment to honour Free-will and Sovereignty.
These are what I have been able to sustain, through my life of 56yrs. And it was not easy.

You don't follow passion.
You bring it with you no matter the endeavor.

and also define passion. sometimes people are depressed the moment they become people and youre left cold and empty on the inside always, it becomes to the point where you wonder if you have ever felt passion for anything at all.

I follow my interest in my career. Interest keeps me coming back for more, no matter how difficult. Personal life is responsibility

Great questions, Doctor!
You gotta distinguish where each particular passion is coming from, whether mind (ego), body (warning/possible addiction), or higher self (spirit).
If it calls to you from the head, then thank it for sharing and meditate some more.
If it comes from the gut, then become vigilantly aware of what's authentically going on right now.
If it comes from the heart, then Be lovingly grateful that you're on The Path/Way... your "hero's journey".
😇

I find following my instinct come first, follow with accountability by perfecting my passion. It takes 10, 000 hours to master a craft. That should be the passion itself

I was introduced to Joseph Campbell in college. I think it was one of the first books that inspired me to really think and not just regurgitate what a teacher told me to think!

My passion has always been singing. I'm good enough to win Karaoke contests, but never tried out for AI, etc. I can honestly assess my talent, and while I'm passionate, I am not that fabulous. But, I found moments of passion in my work over the years, and singing is my hobby, at which I could never make a consistent living, but which gives me great satisfaction. Yes, I get the Rolling Stones reference...

Well, following my passion, or discovering, my passion helped me to get a degree in mechanical engineering from the university of Washington. So it helped me. I had already redeveloped a commitment to truth so I figured that out on my own the the pain of narcissistic abuse.

It usually always works out. If it hasn't worked out, it isn't over. Set the intention to know truth and truth u shall get

I'm a Second gen trucker. I've been a company driver the whole time. Dad was an Owner/operator. So many drivers when they first meet me think I'm an Owner/Operator as well.

Here here Dr Peterson.
I've debated some of Joseph Campbell's work too because I see it manifest in people like Russell Brand, who say they are all changed, moral and virtuous, but really are just acting on impulse and an inability to control themselves.

He didn’t say follow your passion, Jordan!

He said FOLLOW YOUR BLISS!

Over and over again!

The year is 2023... thousands of years after "the fall of the tower of Babel" and yes, humanity is still struggling to use the same words to communicate the same ideas to one another. I love that Jordan cares enough to be thorough in describing what he's thinking, rather than prioritizing being concise and quick, he takes his time so more people can understand him.
