I never understand why anyone found this argument convincing. This would be like an ex-atheist saying "Because it discovered the truth of Christianity through analyzing it through my skepticism and materialistic worldview, I can therefore continue to question the basic truths of Christianity in a similar manner after I became a Christian."

I've always held this opinion but have never heard it expressed so I thought I was wrong. This feels intuitive to me so I just thought this argument has a big flaw people just haven't been able to express to me. The motives of credibility were the reason for my eventual conversion (alongside the work in me God has been doing over the course of years). I haven't seen anyone else convert because of that though, I wonder what yall's thoughts are

When you press a Protestant on 1. Lets only follow the Bible and 2. Do things the way the Early Church does in Scripture, what many will end up doing is claiming a third contradictory claim that erases the first two, which is 3. Yes the Apostles had religious authority, but it died with them. Therefore in Protestantism, the New Testament is useless for determing such questions, because we go to the Bible and the Early Church in Scripture and that data is useless because everything in the New Testament is during this time of the Apostles.

The Boreans checking the scripture to see if what the Apostles taught "was so", demonstrates that for THEM, the scriptures were the ultimate authority, or final authority. Thats pretty much the definition of sola scriptura.
A modern example would be a Catholic approaching a protestant (as you're doing in this video) and telling him Christ founded the Catholic Church, and the protestant searching the scripture to see if "it was so". In both cases you could say the Boreans, and the protestants are more noble than others. Also in both cases, its possible that neither the Boreans or protestants will agree with your fallible interpretation. Maybe you're not presenting it strongly or clearly enough, or you're possibly wrong and they're right.

The fact that Paul and the Apostles teach things that contradict scripture (circumcision, eating certain foods, etc) blows the whole concept of teachings having to agree with scripture out the water. Why do some Protestant ignore this fact?

Orthodox Christian here. This is a pretty good refutation of the protestants' abuse of the Bereans, but I think an addendum to this video that argues for the continuity of the Church's authority after the time of the apostles would be very beneficial.

Sola Scriptura can't explain why the Bible contains, for example, lengthy genealogies, but only brief mentions of key doctrines.

As a Protestant, I have a few important questions. I am open minded and love open discussion.

First question is, did the apostles write down the entire gospel? Or are there important pieces missing that they don’t write down?
