🥰 Hi beautiful people 🥰

🎥 Have you ever grown your own chickpeas? Growing chickpeas in your garden can be a rewarding experience. Chickpeas, also known as garbanzo beans, are a nutritious legume that can thrive in the right conditions. In this video I’ll show you what it looks like.

❓ You might be wondering if you can enjoy fresh chickpeas???!!!

✅ Yes, you can absolutely enjoy fresh chickpeas, often referred to as "green chickpeas" or "garbanzo beans in the pod." They have a slightly different taste and texture compared to the dried ones commonly used for cooking. Here's how you can eat fresh chickpeas:

1. Harvesting: Fresh chickpeas are typically harvested when the pods are still green and tender. You'll want to pick them while the pods are plump and before they start to turn yellow or dry out.

2. Shelling: To access the fresh chickpeas, you need to shell the pods. Simply snap off the stem end of the pod and then gently press along the seam to split it open. Inside, you'll find the green chickpeas nestled in the pod.

3. Cooking: Fresh chickpeas have a milder and sweeter flavour compared to their dried counterparts. They can be eaten raw, blanched, boiled, or sautéed. Here are a few ways to prepare and enjoy them:

• Raw Snacking: You can enjoy fresh chickpeas straight from the pod as a healthy and crunchy snack.

• Blanching: Briefly blanch the fresh chickpeas in boiling water for a few minutes and then plunge them into ice water to stop the cooking process. This helps to soften the chickpeas and make them more tender for eating.

• Boiling: Boil fresh chickpeas in salted water for about 15-20 minutes until they're tender. You can then season them with herbs, spices, or a bit of olive oil.

• Sautéing: Heat a bit of oil or butter in a pan, add the shelled chickpeas, and sauté them with your choice of seasonings until they're slightly browned and heated through.

4. Seasoning: Fresh chickpeas can be seasoned with various herbs, spices, and flavours to suit your taste. Some options include lemon zest, garlic, cumin, chili powder, or even a sprinkle of parmesan cheese.

5. Adding to Dishes: Fresh chickpeas can be a great addition to salads, stir-fries, grain bowls, or pasta dishes. They provide a burst of freshness and a unique texture.

🥘 Remember that the cooking time for fresh chickpeas is much shorter than for dried ones, so be careful not to overcook them. Experiment with different cooking methods and flavourings to find your favourite way to enjoy these nutritious legumes in their fresh form.
