I don't recall a tale of a mermaid that doesn't end in tragedy. This playlist isn't so much "happy in love" but more like "riding the wave, even if it crushes you in the end."

I imagine the mermaid from your last playlist finding a young man who’s often wandering around the shores and tide pools near her. He isn’t like the others- some tease him for being more of a dreamer, a scholar at heart with a love for studying all aspects of the sea. She watched him collecting samples and sketching the landscapes each day, but keeps her distance. And at the same time, she worries for him since the tide comes in so quick, and he waits till the last minute for the waves to come up to his ankles. He is blissfully unaware of her presence, fascinated by each creature he comes across…. Until a stray riptide sweeps him. He loses his sketches and bag of samples, all such trivialities. Her heart sinks at the sound of silence, when it’s often filled with him talking to himself and laughing. She risks her own life saving his, sweeping him from the rip current in time before it drowns him. He is in a panic, until he recognizes her. He softens, as he finds land.
“It’s you.” He muses.
“What do you mean?”
“You’re the pretty girl I’ve come each day to sketch.”
Turns out none of his sketches were of the ocean. She finds the withered wet pages, just to see etchings of herself in watery charcoal. His innocent, tender smile becomes blushy, aware of her mermaid tail and all.
“But you know…. I imagined myself being the first to rescue you instead.”
“And you did.” She thought to herself, “You always did.”

My God you're good at this! How you know exactly how to deliver a proper feel of mermaidness is beyond me, but here we are.

Since this is NOT a „heartbroken“ playlist, screw it! Have at you with a happily ever after apulian mermaid folktale!
The Mermaid Bride:
There once was a fair young woman, with hair and eyes as black as ink, and her skin as white as milk, who was married to a sailor. Once, when her husband was at sea, she ran off with another man, but she regretted her decision and threw herself at her husbands knees, for forgiveness. Though he had loved her, the sailor was so hurt that he took her to the sea, and threw her into the water. But the mermaids saw the fair woman that fell into the ocean, and felt sorry for her. So they took her by the hand, and brought her to their shining underwater palace. And one mermaid combed her hair, one put perfume on her arms and chest, one gave her a coral necklace, one put emerald rings on her fingers. When the confused wife heard the mermaids say „ come, Foam, come with us!“ she knew that Foam was her name among the sirens, and she went with them. She lived spledidly, but the pain and guilt of her old life still tormented her, and because they saw her full of sorrows, the mermaids taught her to sing, and made her join their choir. On a full moon night, a great ship sailed over the palace, and the sirens said „come Foam, come sing with us!“ and heavenly music could be heard singing from under the ship. Then, one sailor threw himself over board, and Foam recognised him immediately: it was her husband! The mermaids took him, and said „What shall we turn him into?” “Into a coral?” “Or into white crystal! Or into a shell!” But Foam pleaded “Wait! Give him to me! I want to put a spell on him… my way… you’ll see…” so she went to the white tower where her man was kept, and sang to him “In life I betrayed you, and you threw me away. But I still love, and I’ll die to save your life, for the Mermaids will surely kill me when they see you escaped. Listen: the sirens sleep during the day, and fish for sailors with their nets at night. At dawn, hold tight to me, as I take you to the surface. Goodbye now, the song ends here.” The next day, she brought her husband to the surface, where a ship found him and took him on board. They heard him mumbling “my wife… the mermaid…” he went back on land, ridden with guilt, trying to find a way to save his wife. Walking a long way, he came to a nut tree, where the fairies meet for their midnight dances. There, an old, old woman approached him, and told him “I know of your pain, and I will help you get your wife back, if you help me. In the siren’s palace, there is a beautiful flower, called “the fairest of them all”. You must bring it tooo this tree, and your wife will be saved” “But how should I do that?” “Find a way, if you want to see your wife again!”. The next day, the sailor took a boat and sailed to the palace, where he called out his wife’s name. She came to the surface, and he asked her about the flower “I know of that flower” she answered “ but I can’t get it for you. “The fairest of them all” was stolen from the fairies, and if it ever left the palace, all the mermaids would die. I’m a mermaid too now, so I’d be killed by it as well.” “No you wouldn’t” said her husband “because the fairies would protect you”. The mermaid pondered a bit, and said “sell all you have, and buy as many shiny jewels and gems you can. Thow them into the water, and while the sirens are distracted, I’ll steal the flower from the palace.” The sailor did as his wife had told him, and when he threw the precious stones into the water, the mermaids came to play with the shiny things. Suddenly, a great bang was heard, and the water rose up to the sky, as the mermaids’ palace fell apart. The mermaids understood what had happened, and died in the waters. But from the high waves came out the old lady, riding on a broom, holding the magic flower and the sailor’s wife.

This is the soundtrack of my love life. Ever my beloved loses me to the tide, ever it gives me back to him again... But never for long, for the highest romance is ethereal and cannot be captured.

It happened to me that I was and still am completely in love with the heartbroken mermaid one. A month algo I traveled to the beach to go on a vacation. On the fifth day I met a boy from the beach whom I deeply fell in love with and I think he kind of did the same with me. Of course he didnt tell me. He was a free soul who worked in different activities all the time, he would say to me how much of a pírate he was and that he was a bad person, although he just kept doing beautiful things with me. He took me on a trip on a boat for like two hours while telling me things about himself and trying for me to understand him as much as I could cause we spoke different lenguages. We went to his home to kiss and dance and chat and he showed me native songs and translated the words for me. He took me on car rides and other daylight beach activities. Also watch the full moon at night reflected in the sea and laying down on the sand while he told me I was like an enchanting mermaid to him. They were the most amazing and mágical four days. They were going to be five of them, but that last night he ran away and told me he was a pírate and a bad person and he was free and didnt make compromises with anyone. Most important, he told me last days didnt exist for him and that my last night there he preferred to drink and be with his friends and that he didnt want to say goodbye to me. I never felt more like a heartbroken mermaid and returned to my hotel bursted in tears. He hasn’t returned any of my messages since then and I just had to stop doing it to not feel like I’m crawling for someone who doesn’t want me no more.
