I’ve personally always imagined that mermaids and sirens are the same thing, but sirens are more like a gang or something, they’re just mermaids that choose to be more violent, so I really like that everyone has the option to choose what they wanna be. I know that’s the whole point of the POV, choose a side, but considering the context, it goes with it perfectly and I think it really adds to the story :D
