I went an looked into this more after seeing this video. His name is Nagenthran, he was sentenced to death in 2010 at the age of 22, he was caught carrying heroin across the border in Singapore, (about 3 -4 tablespoons to put in context the amount) He was forced to carry the heroin or his loved ones would have been hurt or killed. He also had learning disabilities. He was put to death last year (2022). This is not someone who should have spent 12 years on death row and then killed. What a heartbreaking story and end to this young man's life.

death penalty for roughly 3 spoons of drugs is inhumane, and is disgusting to think such punishments are given for petty crimes like this instead to those who did way more worse i.e. rape, murder, war crimes & more

The crime didn't even deserve death, he wasn't commiting mass murder or some stupid serial killer. he was forced to carry heroin or his family would get killed he didn't want to do but had to. it's funny how a killer is sentenced to 10-15 years, but someone carring pills to save his famil is sentenced to death.

I’d bet my life that he didn’t even have an appetite in that moment. I mean how could you possibly be hungry when you’re that scared? I’m guessing he ate because he knew he’d never taste food again. I go thru long periods of just not eating because of a lack of appetite, especially when I’m stressed. I keep imagining myself in his shoes, trying to comprehend why I need to die and relate to the terror he’s enduring. I can relate to a degree because I’ve had quite a few close calls but I keep thinking like “no I’m too anxious. “I can’t eat right now” only to realize “wait, this is the bottom of the wick that is my life. I need to eat.” The fact he’s eating with his hands because he physically cannot hold utensils is also very tragic.
