I'd forgotten it was Jones who cursed his heart that bound the captain and crew to the Dutchman. It's interesting how they tried to continue this curse in Pirates 4 but didn't take into account that Will fulfilled his duty to the Dutchman and Calypso. That begs the question of if Jones's curse of becoming part of the ship part of the crew transfered to Will or ended with Jones's death.

1:23 a weird similarity that i found is that its just like night city from cyberpunk.
The more you chase the heist, the glory and the greed that the city provides the more it demands from you. So you trade flesh with mashine slowly losing your humanity.
I think on the Surface It's incredibly similar to The curse of The flying Dutchman

If Will was freed from the Dutchman, what happens to the souls he's supposed to be guiding to the afterlife? For that matter, what happened to those souls before Davy Jones had that position?

The designs for the Flying Dutchman's crew are so good. I think that part of what makes them so special is how they aren't entirely grimdark mutants, they still have some whimsical(though horrifying) elements, like the shrimp guy having feelers as an exaggerated mustache, or Maccus the hammerhead guy having one eye waaaay off to the side. The designers weren't afraid to have a bit of fun with it, and I think that it really helped give the crew some staying power. If they had just been "Zombies but with barnacles and seaweed" they wouldn't be nearly as cool. I feel that if Dead Man's Chest was released today, they would just be a generic CGI army with some slight nautical theming.

Edit: I love how you kept slipping in little quotes from the movie when describing the Aztec curse. I don't blame you. PotC is the most quotable franchise in existence.

I always wondered if the Aztec gold stacked with the flying Dutchman’s curse. Did Davy jones ever wonder why bootstrap would turn into a skeleton at night?

What if one steals the stone chest itself? Do they still get cursed?

I wonder if Poseidon’s Trident stopped the cursed coin that Jack the Monkey had on him, rendering him mortal. Would explain why he was much more helpful to Jack (Sparrow) at the end of the movie, the monkey might as well spend his life serving his namesake properly.
