He’s my big brother, I was just talking with him last week about this video, and decided to rewatch it. he’s been doing well, and he’s made a good amount of progress with his house. He’s still working and my niece is doing great too!
I’m proud of him, especially since I know how hard he works!

What a charismatic guy. Didn't focus on showing off the hopeless, dangerous aspects of the hood, but instead on the hope for the future of Detroit. Speaks volumes about his character. Wish him nothing but the best!

As a Firefighter in the area I can attest to the city coming up from the ashes. It’s slowly getting better day by day. The people are fighting for their city and it’s working!! Just 2 years ago 99% of these neighborhoods had no groceries, no banks, no services. Now it’s Detroit’s time to shine, and I’m blessed to be able to witness it and help in my own little way

This channel is like a class in sociology. EVERYONE should see this episodes. It really gives a whole new perspective on others, no matter where they live.

I love that older guy near the church. What a stand up human being. He’s the type of guy we need teaching/mentoring our youth

I really appreciate that this channel isn't about looking at the poorest parts of the world and gawking like a trip to the zoo. He goes out of his way to humanize and connect with everyday people and hear their stories

I actually started crying at 29:40. How many guys can say that they had not one, not two, but THREE flawed, imperfect dads? It's gonna sound weird, but he was blessed. Not only did he have multiple good AND imperfect role models all through life, but seeing none of them be perfect is probably what actually enabled him to turn himself around as well instead of derailing entirely.

Loved that guy who spoke on color! If we could all think like this. Imagine the possibilities and how strong this country could be. The government doesn’t want that. Instead they want us divided. This was excellent video..as always. 🎉

Come on, John, get your own youtube channel and record the building renovation of the house you bought. Nothing fancy. Just documenting the progression from beginning to end. You might grow an audience while spreading a message of hope and positivity, and it might even turn into another side hustle.

As a native Detroiter who was born and raised in Detroit, I remember the beautiful city. I hope these folks are right in that it will come back. At nine years old, I would put on my best clothes, hat and gloves and take the bus downtown to see a movie by myself. We lived near the U. of Detroit. I will be 80 years old this year.

Thing about Detroit is that the people are proud of their city. If you respect the city and the people that live there, you’ll find love and gratitude in exchange.

If there is ONE American city worth really trying to bring back - it is Detroit! It has a great history and culture. Fantastic video!

I love how the young man is from and understands “the hood” but is far more interested in focusing on the future. He’s like, “yeah, this the hood now, but let me show what I’m going to make of it.”
Better yet, redefine the Hood as Family Bettering Together.

Respect to my brother John. Got involved into the fast life, got out of prison taking care of his seed, copped a home. Working multiple jobs. Hope for the best. Maybe in a few years we can get a update.

John’s story and how he talks about the city he loves is really inspiring. Truly shows how he’s a guy who wants to work honestly to support himself and his family and inform those unaware how to actually help his city. Really informative video

Ive been going to Detroit my whole life and one thing I've noticed is how creative people are with making money, multiple jobs doing all sorts. City of Hustlers

I like these US series. It's really highlighting how hard Americans are trying to make the American Dream work in the 21st century. This Detroit series has made me feel pretty proud to be an American. It isn't all sunshine and rainbows, but we are resilient.

I sincerely hope that Jon becomes successful in building his empire. I hope his daughter grows and is truly proud of her dad.

Not only a hard worker, but also appreciates and acknowledges his dads. "Teamwork" made him a winner, a good soul.
