A Mig 29 of Bulgaria's air force crashed into the Black Sea during a military exercise and the pilot is missing, the Bulgarian Defense Ministry said on June 9.

The ministry said the fighter jet disappeared from radar at 12:45 a.m. local time over the country's territorial waters.
A search and rescue operation was launched immediately.
On June 10, it was confirmed by the Defence Ministry that Bulgarian Air Force pilot Major Valentin Terziev had died.

Terziev had been taking part in a night exercise involving shooting at an airborne target.
The reasons for the crash are unclear, but military officials suspended the Shabla 2021 drill.

While the crashes of fighter jets are not uncommon, the frequency is concerning especially when it is faced across different air forces.

In this video Defense Updates analyzes why Russian Mig 29 is becoming a head-ace for the nation operating them?

I was surprised to learn average Russian jet isn't expected/ intended to have half the life span of American counterpart. Makes prices more equitable

Russia has had serious issues with Quality control in it's aerospace sector for a number of years

The MiG-29 from the video with serial number 38 crashed several days ago with unclear circumstances during Shabla 2021 sea training. Unfortunately, the highly experienced 47 years old pilot Major Terziev was confirmed killed (by fiding his jacket). The Bulgarian government is highly corrupted and does not provide information about the case - the black box was intentionally not recovered - even when the plane crashed in shallow waters. I cannot understand how the search and rescue found human remains and a jacket but never found the black box of the plane. It was confirmed that there was no ejection. I assume that it was friendly fire from closely bases US AAA Patriot but they all hide information.... RIP Major Terziev

Seems like the “multi role” mig-29 is being used A Lot for search and rescue training:)

Rd 33 engine has reliablity issues it doesn't have fadec control and hot components have lesser flying hours compared to western counter part but russians are improving with rd 93

India has lost many top guns to Mig 21 crashes as a result of which it is named "The Flying Coffin". Now, Mig 29 too has earned that title.

People have no concept of how complex and maintenance heavy fighter jets are. Flying at the speed with the amount of Gs’ they must endure to save the pilots life is mind boggling. Humans are not designed to move that fast. God bless all fellow warriors. See you in Valhalla.

Imagine the MIG 29 going up against a pair of Raptors.

The Bulgarian MiG-29 crashed during training exercise.
When they found the black box it turned out that it was pilot's fault.
He was supposed to attack an areal target dropped with a parachute from another plane.
He missed the target at his first attempt so he went for a second.
He did hit it on his second attempt, however, he was already too low to the water's surface in order to regain control of the jet.
He crashed in the water with a speed of over 800km/h.
He has two sons, 13 and 10 y/o respectively.

Maybe he got carried away and didn't look at the gauges.

Prayers to the family of the pilot. Unfortunately he’s got to be dead after missing for over eight days.

When you have old hardware the maintenance becomes expensive. It is wrong to cut corners, don’t blame the machine.

something tells me it has a lot to do with operators of the mig-29 not doing proper maintenance.

Its not that much of a shock. The Bulgarian Air force is operating some of the oldest models of the MiG-29 so its not surprising that they are starting to fail. They have tried their best to maintain them in flying condition but its not working
For India's MIG-29 engine audit, Again not a shock. Russia offered the MiG-35 to India and they passed in favor of the Rafale because of the issues they were having with the existing MIG-29s however India still went ahead with an order for 21 frames to be rebuilt and upgrading its fleet to UPG2 standard. There more tenders in India for aircraft
The Rafale and F-18 are front runners to supply both the IAF and INAA

Really concerning. All the countries using Russian engines in their aircrafts are facing serious issues except for China as Russian engines are better than Chinese counterparts.
