I never thought about how much milk a cow produces daily. You mentioned 6 gallons so one milk cow would supply a few families depending on how many kids. 😁💘💘 Thank you 🙏🇺🇸

Thank you for the overview. We always think about getting A dairy cow if our schedules ever allow for it. I didn't realize you would get that much daily. A friend of ours who raises cows also uses the milk com his cow to supplement his pig feed.

I would suggest getting a breed of cow that gives only the amount of milk you need. We have a little Dexter that gives us 1/2 gallon a day (with a calf on her, too). We drink it as it comes in. Usually 1-2 gallons in our kitchen fridge.

My goats are kidding next month and we’re gearing up for milking. I’d love brand recommendations for the pails, I don’t know the best place to look for those. And I’d add that most people will also want to have a milking station (based on my research, not experience of course).

I just discovered your channel while looking up instant pot bone broth and WOW!! You're doing awesome! I love your homestead, what state are you in? We are in Utah and we have our land and cows but no house yet. Slow and steady wins the race but we also feel pressure to get established because we see that things are going crazy in the world beyond our tiny town. Thanks for sharing all that you have learned!

Thank you for all these wonderful informational videos. What brands of stainless steel buckets would you reccomend? There are so many options, but I wonder if you could reccomend one that has been proven. Thanks!

Do you get your milk tested if it’s just for your family? At what age do your kids start drinking raw milk (if it hasn’t been tested)?

Milk buckets, feed bucket/trough, low stool, and a leg strap. This should be the minimum. Learn the value of leg straps! No stalls required. No milk lost or kicks to the head.

We just got a young holstein heifer to be friends with our steer. We are hoping to do raw milk with her in a year or two. The person we got her from rolled her eyes when we said we wanted to get milk eventually because of the amount of milk we would get. What kind of cow are you getting 6 gallons a day from? How long does it take to hand milk, assuming you are getting 3 gallons twice a day?

HOW DO YOU PRESERVE THE MILK AND CREAM. DOES THE MILK NEED TO BE PASTURIZED OR HOMOGENIZED?
IF SO, HOW IS THIS DONE?
