Very interesting video but I have a question. This seems like a great tip for beginners to get better use of their time when studying their target languages, but what about more advanced learners? I would say I'm approaching a decent level in my target language and am now starting to focus on becoming fluent. I'm still struggling with the definition of "fluent" and trying to figure out what that really means, but for now I believe it means being able to understand a wide range of topics in an array of different situations. For example, right now I don't have too many issues conversing in my target language with native speakers and can easily get my point across. I also can read at a decent level and understand the gist of what's going on. However, put me in a situation where I need to understand a lot of formal/ deep speech (like watching a documentary or something) and I feel I wouldn't do nearly as well. Why is that? Because I'm not very interested to motivation to learn words I won't be actively using in conversation. So my question is, how can I reach "fluency" using the method you discussed in this video? If I only look for enjoyable content how will I become better at functioning in situations outside of my bubbles of familiarity? Of course it's easier to talk about subjects that interest you, however won't I haver to learn the rest at some point?
Thanks!
