An Awesome 4K Dock For The Deck! Steam Deck Docks Are Here

We finally have some Steam Deck docks but they aunt from Valve Yet. In this video, we take look at a 5-in-1 Dock for the Steam deck that you can buy right now. It has HDMi 2.0 for 4K 60 Video, USB Type C for 45-watt charging, and 3 USB 3.0 Ports to have hard drives and other devices on the deck.

Remember to get something that supports 4k60hz as most cheap HDMI adapters support up to 4k30hz and the deck does not allow you to manually change the actual display output resolution

I hope that Valve also releases a Steam Controller 2 along with the official Deck dock.

NOTE! This dock only supports up to 4k 30hz!! If you have a 4K TV this will NOT be a good option. You can't change the refresh rate and output resolution on the deck when it is in gaming mode!

I really like the CableCreation 7-in-1 USB C Hub, paired with a simple stand. It has Gigabit LAN and 100w charging, so it can easily be repurposed for something else when I get the official Steam Deck Dock.

I've been using a generic PD USB-C breakout box with 4k60 support and on many games the Deck struggles because of the high native resolution. No matter what you set in the game settings the HDMI will always stay at full resolution, consuming bandwidth. I ended up buying an EDID injector that let me set the output resolution to 720p60 and now the Deck rocks better than native framerates. Granted the picture quality is not as great, but the experience is incredible.

I really like that users have the flexibility to dock the Steam Deck as well as use it in hand-held mode. In my case, I'll probably use the Steam Deck strictly as a hand-held gaming device and then dock my laptop just for the improved game experience.

Either way though, it's always a nice back-up option to have and I look forward to not having to buy a PC version and a Switch or Android version of certain games that I want to play with a hand-held device.
